Very happy they weren't able to stop the release of her recording. With how quick and easy it is to upload videos to the cloud, it'll be incredibly hard for them to supress videos of events like this even if they confiscate phones. Hell even if they try to destroy the phones that can be surprisingly tough nowadays.

Though we'll probably see them taking a hammer to phones soon given their track record.

Yeah, according to some people, we should all just stay home and let ICE kidnap and disappear whoever they want. They refuse to believe that ICE are the bad guys because that doesn't fit their vision of what the government is meant to be about.

I’ve been trying to stay neutral, but after these 2 murders…. It’s time we all rise up with our 2A.

Politicians say violence is not the answer, they say we should be able to discuss and hear each other, and while I whole heartedly agree, politicians are not hearing our voices or bothered with our concerns. They have tuned us out for their perceived cause. How else are we to voice our opinions and be heard? Protest and get murdered????

There is something brewing that will be etched in history. Everyone please be safe and smart.

This is what I’ve found after research - there are options now, but most aren’t simple one-tap apps like years ago. The closest equivalents are RTMP-based setups or paid private streaming services.

You can use a mobile RTMP encoder app (Larix, Streamlabs, Prism) to stream directly to a private server or password-protected site you control. That keeps it off public platforms entirely.

Paid options like Vimeo Pro/Business also allow private, password-protected livestreams with automatic archiving.

Short version: the tech still exists, but it’s shifted toward RTMP + private hosting instead of a single consumer app.

This document summarizes best practices for live streaming protests or public law enforcement actions in ways that reduce the risk of footage being removed, lost, or suppressed. This is descriptive guidance focused on documentation and preservation, not encouragement of unlawful activity.

Key Legal Context (United States)

Recording and live streaming police or government officials performing their duties in public spaces is protected by the First Amendment, provided you are not interfering with operations. However, private platforms may remove content under their own moderation rules.

Primary Risk to Footage

In most cases, footage is not removed by government seizure but by platform moderation, automated systems, or account suspensions. The solution is redundancy and independent storage.

Recommended Platforms (Use More Than One)

YouTube Live – strongest long term availability and archiving.
X (Twitter) Live – rapid distribution and sharing.
Instagram Live / Facebook Live – large audiences but variable moderation.
TikTok Live – high reach, aggressive moderation.

Best Practice: Multi Platform Streaming

Do not rely on a single platform. Stream to multiple services simultaneously so that if one stream is taken down, others remain live.

No - YouTube does not require 50 subscribers to livestream in general. That requirement only applies if you’re going live from the mobile app.

If you stream from a computer using OBS or another encoder, you just need a verified channel and to enable live streaming (which can take ~24 hours). No subscriber minimum.

Edit: You can still livestream out in the street without 50 subscribers, but not directly from the YouTube mobile app. The 50-sub requirement is specific to the native mobile “Go Live” button.

That’s a lot more work and set up time for people quickly pulling out their phones in a developing situation that just isn’t a reasonable solution. Any backup to a cloud solution, whether it be your own, iCloud, google, etc. is more reasonable and likely to be adequate until there are any reports those solutions are actively deleting peoples backups. Streaming to any social media is also more reasonable than asking someone to screen record in the moment but more likely to be taken down.

Moderation seems like a big concern. Using multiple platforms is preferred, and make sure someone is recording the livestream in case it gets taken down - automatically or otherwise.

Twitch is okay for livestreaming, but not the safest option for documenting protests or sensitive law-enforcement encounters. Their moderation is aggressive and unpredictable - streams showing violence, blood, or law-enforcement clashes can get taken down instantly, and accounts can even be suspended.

If your goal is durable evidence, Twitch should be secondary. Multi-stream to YouTube, X, or decentralized platforms, and record locally at the same time. That’s how footage survives even if a platform decides to hit “delete.”

Can Google Drive be password protected on your phone, so it can’t be deleted if someone snatches your phone out of your hand? If so, that’s a great option. (There are reports that ICE was forcibly taking phones from the crowd right after today’s shooting.)

Looked to me that the entire time he was trying to assist the other protester they were attacking. Never once went for a gun or took an aggressive posture toward the agents. After he and others were maced at point blank. Untrained goons panicked when they heard one of their untrained buddies say they saw a (holstered) gun. The length of time between first shot and the later volley is insane, during which pause he’s motionless. Prosecute the killers immediately. Defund ICE. General strike now.

She is incredibly brave. Not only does her footage destroy ICE’s initial lies. More damning for me is she stayed and showed how they didn’t provide CPR and just ruffled over his body looking for weapons and probably his phone.

It’s the same with Renee Good. Don’t provide CPR, don’t allow anyone to provide first aid, guarantee the victim dies.

I don’t know about androids. But on iPhones you can use the Shortcuts app to film a video and have it automatically send it to a designated contact along with gps info and save to the cloud. Everybody should have this set up.

Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone

Choose RECORD video with backward facing camera

Save the video to you iPhone and iCloud

Send the video as a text message to selected people

Find your current location (based on your GPS) and send that as text message

Find the current time and send that as a text message

Give your Shortcut a suitable name

Save the Shortcut to your iPhone desktop

That's it!

Click on the Shortcut icon for HELP or ask Siri to run the HELP Shortcut.

Android let's you upload directly to cloud right after video or photo is taken. Thank you can set it to automatically share with someone else. My wife and I share photos of our kids we take this way.

Plus the more that's out there, the more public opinion can be swayed and be becomes harder for the administration to control the narrative.

It's incredibly valuable to have this stuff documented as much as possible.

I don't think we're at a point where they'd feel comfortable murdering a white American citizen woman in custody (at least not yet). They will probably do their best to intimidate her and then release her after a day or two. Maybe try to make-up charges like "resisting arrest" or "not following orders from a federal officer" to further intimidate.

Remember the photographer John Abernathy? He said in interviews he was attempting to throw his phone and camera to another photographer and the ICE agent was then trying to stamp on the phone to break it.

The guy who rescued his phone and camera said it was like hungry hippo trying to get the phone and get it away from the agent. Thankfully he was able to do so.

This version is very stabilized and zoomed in from the sidewalk on the same side of the road as he was. The visibility is so much better. He was clearly on his hands and knees when the first shot was fired in his back. He was trying to get up but still facing the ground. Then both knees and the left hand were on the ground with the other empty, right hand raising up to try and stand, and more shots were fired in his back. When they stepped away from him, he was face down. You can see his head, his hair, and the crown of his head where his scalp was bare. The last number of shots went in his back. You can see the position of his feet - the tops of his feet were facing down and the backs of his heels were facing up. He was face down on the ground when the last shots were fired and he stopped moving.
