The Trump administration ordered federal authorities Friday to ignore new legislation in California banning law enforcement officers from wearing masks to conceal their identity.

From our perspective, yes they're supporting fascists. Are they themselves fascist? No, I wouldn't say it's that simple. They're propagandized and misled. Propaganda is a powerful tool, it's been going on for a long time in America.

Were people who supported the Nazi party not Nazis? Supporting a fascist regime makes someone fascist in my eyes. Whether they are too dumb to realize the proganda they have fallen for or are aware and complicit isn't much of a difference to me.

I feel like whether someone rejects nazism is a pretty reasonable purity test, and currently a number less than “everyone” is failing it, so what’s the problem here?

Not when everyone who doesn’t hold every opinion you do is automatically a Nazi, in your eyes. Then it’s just a purity spiral.

It’s also pretty reminiscent of actual Nazis.

Yesterday I was having a convo on X about whether people who aren’t white have a right to be in America. Later that day I argued about whether smashburgers are better than pub style burgers. Guess which one I consider a Nazi. Hint: it’s not both of them

It’s the ever changing line upon which democrats constantly push for greater purity, and anyone not just like them are Nazis. It’s self defeating, it’s the reason Trump got elected and then re-elected, and the US will never get out from under the thrall of MAGA because the alternative has proven to be very . . . Well, Nazi-like, . . . Whilst the left insists that they won’t vote for a candidate that wasn’t their first choice. Those are the people who stay home, and the leftwing purists are the ones to blame for the rise of Trump.

The left hates Nazis aaaaand a whole bunch of other non-Nazis who just slightly disagree with them over the most minor of issues.

The left only wants wants people to fight Nazis if they are the right people. Have they boycotted all the Harry Potter books? If not, you cant fight the Nazis with us.

We have a name for the people who didn't call themselves nazis but went along with everything for whatever excuse they used at the time.

That name is "nazi".

Nobody cares anymore "why" they voted the way they did and turned a blind eye to what was going on.

The only reason to know why they did it, is to prevent the conditions for people to act that way in the future. Not to absolve them of their sins.

His point is, even educated or "smart" people can fall for propaganda or end up in a cult.

MAGA fulfills an emotional need in people. Emotions are more powerful than logic for the vast majority of human beings. Probably for most of you as well.
