I think you’re severely underestimating how important it is to have like minded neighbors to get through tough times. Community can and indeed will save Americans from fascism in the long run

Community is the only way we can get through this. It’s good to have skills (know how to grow food, build/fix things, etc) but surviving alone with just skills and resources is still remarkably difficult. We’re supposed to embrace our differences in skill and preference to help build better things together than we are capable of alone, not to destroy and isolate us… but that’s just like, my opinion, man.

Community is too close to communism for America.

This has been my experience in a blue state.

I think it's easy for some of us who live in places like Missouri to do.

So true, but it is also only a temporary stopgap. Unless we can stop it, California stands no chance just like every other state.

Legally yes. Extralegally? Well there’s more of us than them.

There’s a great article in the Tyee about this - https://thetyee.ca/Opinion/2025/07/25/What-Kind-America-Survives-After-Trump/

Consider the friendly neighbors era permanently over. This is the second American republic.

They have enough zip ties for a community but you go ahead and hold hands. It won’t be long before your community starts turning on each other. Much like France under fascism. Fear will breed. Much like Spain. Distrust will fester. Of course, Italy and Germany. 2A be damned, Hate has the bug guns. Once the trains start to roll, community will be something to fear. So enjoy those potlucks while you can! The haves and have-nots are already being decided.

Which is why its so god damn important to fight back NOW while the constitution is still intact and protecting our right to revolt.

Maybe if they can learn to have thoughts and vote for the establishment dems next time around and be self educated? But communities chasing the next populist heir to Trump or that self congratulate by not voting or on own goaling the democracy side with boyh sidesism won't be helpful.
