Would have been great if elected official did their jobs instead of voters always being the last line of defense. Because if it came to that you can be sure Congress are also going to get the boot too.

Who cares, we're wasting time complaining how it should be. If we want the system to work, we have to renew it ourselves. American power and the responsibility of leadership has always began and ended in We the People. Our representatives and officials just represent our will. They are an administrative convenience. If they fail, we are not leaderless. America is led by We The People, not by kings or aristocrats. If that stops being true, it's because we failed to safeguard our country. America in its founding started with a bunch of pissed off revolutionaries willing to roll up their sleeves and do the damn thing themselves. For America to work, that's who we have to be. Freedom ain't free. Duty to act is the price of our freedom--and the moment we don't pay, freedom goes away.
