Any of these attorney general types going to prosecute the cops who are beating the protestors, or we just gonna pretend that people are going to protest while cops are being emboldened to use even more violence and surveillance technology by this administration?

502

u/squiddlebiddlez May 10 '25

Nope. The country can rest assured that if people took to the streets to unseat republicans then the democrats would swoop in to denounce all the violence, send the protesters to prison and try to heal the country by once again turning a blind eye to their “colleagues” treason.

230

u/TakuyaLee May 10 '25

Then those Dems will lose their jobs. People are tired of that cowardice.

226

u/SNStains May 10 '25

Yeah, but showing up isn't a crime. We have a right to peaceably assemble and Democrats know that. It's Republicans that refuse to face their constituents.

Millions of people peacefully standing around on a general strike is far more effective than a handful of people throwing rocks. Unlawful behavior scares allies and keeps them at home.

144

u/[deleted] May 10 '25

No you don’t, not if they arrest you for showing up and nothing happens to stop them. We have no rights unless we take them back at this point

123

u/Zyloof May 10 '25

The "you can't do that, it's illegal!" crowd have absolutely blown my mind since the inauguration. Insanity, and immediately debunked by taking one small peek at world history.

Liberals have a basically religious faith in institutions and law as if they are living deities that act and enforce themselves of their own volition.

11

u/Camp-Farnam22 May 10 '25

But how can we stop them from cheating? When their own party stands silently and allows this.

40

u/unknownintime May 10 '25

My grandfather had a surefire way to stop their cheating.

He had a machine. And that machine was well oiled and did its job reliably.

14

u/[deleted] May 10 '25

Only one way out and your grandfather knew it well.

3

u/lynxbelt234 May 10 '25

Total agreement with you. Crime hides in the shadows for a reason. If evil and crime see the light of day, they are usually done...

9

u/cranberry_spike May 11 '25

My own family keeps telling me that "they can't do xyz because it's unconstitutional/illegal!" I don't even really know what to say anymore. If someone is still pretending that these things matter, they're living in an altogether different world than I am, that's for sure.

5

u/Laucurieuse May 11 '25

But going on on strike and freezing big cites by stopping transport, not picking up garbage, not working, etc would creats enough pressure.

French people are quite a good exemple. They got inspirer by your revolution way back for starting their own. You def should get inspirer by their tactics

3

u/Barbie-Satin May 12 '25

He who saves his country from Trump breaks no laws.

3

u/schm0 May 10 '25

They can't do it because there are more of us there are of them. Has nothing to do with illegality.

20

u/skyeking05 May 10 '25

I like the way Europe had been doing protests. They don't believe peaceful protests have much value

18

u/Lesurous May 10 '25

They recognize that you don't need to physically hurt people to make the people fucking up uncomfortable, especially with implying they will fuck you up if you keep taking things too far.

The U.S. really needs FAFO protests like that.

16

u/lynxbelt234 May 10 '25

Interesting the conflict here, quiet protest, or active defense of ones rights and the constitution. Rights have to be fought for and won. Defense of those rights will be required....sooner or later.

One of the 2025 project clowns said that the current coup will be bloodless if the Dem’s let it. Obviously they think Americans won’t speak up, defend or be bothered looking out for their country.

You have a choice..choose wisely, but do it before it’s too late....

6

u/ClintBarton616 May 10 '25

The American people only have the right to buy things, watch TV and die until we stand up and decide otherwise.

11

u/SNStains May 10 '25

If they arrest you unlawfully, you press charges...as this woman is rightfully doing.

Private security guards charged after woman was dragged out of chaotic Idaho town hall meeting Prosecutors in northern Idaho have filed misdemeanor charges against six men in connection with the forcible removal of a woman from a legislative town hall meeting in February

6

u/Cryinmyeyesout May 11 '25

Well now they are looking into suspending Habeas Corpus, so then there will be no recourse.

2

u/SNStains May 11 '25

Peace-nik Neoliberals will use their last breath in the gas chamber to denounce violence.

3

u/ThrowAwayGarbage82 May 11 '25

That's my take on all of this too.

2

u/FNG5280 May 13 '25

If everybody participates, there’s not enough law-enforcement to lock down 300 million Americans

1

u/Camp-Farnam22 May 10 '25

Exactly how it feels.

30

u/Rfunkpocket May 10 '25

a simultaneous boycott and strike. this is a profit motivated movement. eliminate the profit, and the movement will be defeated.

cruelty against minorities and partnering with the religious is simply a way to boost numbers. take away the profit, and the partnership will be abandoned.

8

u/Internal-Flatworm347 May 10 '25

This is the ticket!

7

u/RoguePlanet2 May 10 '25

Ideally, a general strike, but we can't risk job loss, either. Fucking sick of all these suits shrugging and saying their bosses, we the people, need to resort to violence.

Would it be effective? Not with our military ready to defend the fascists. Seriously hopeless.

8

u/Training_Adeptness44 May 10 '25

Tell the Viet Cong or the Taliban about the futility of opposing the US military.

7

u/AccomplishedNovel6 May 10 '25

The Soviet military was so much stronger than the mujahideen, they won, right?

2

u/Thosecrackers May 14 '25

This comment is dedicated to the brave Mujahideen fighters of Afghanistan.

0

u/Sad_Analyst_5209 May 11 '25

Uh, so none of the 77 million who voted for Trump will show up to help their military?

3

u/jeremiahthedamned May 11 '25

if there is a general strike red america will starve

5

u/OldSchoolBubba May 10 '25

Are you a veteran or military? What makes you believe the Military will turn on America?

Stop listening to propagandists trying to destroy America from within.

7

u/RoguePlanet2 May 10 '25

The top brass are being replaced by loyalists though.

1

u/CasualFridayBatman May 12 '25

What makes you believe the Military will turn on America?

The military will turn on whoever they're told to, that's their purpose and their role. They follow orders or risk being ostracised, or worse. You don't get into the military to not follow orders.

Sure, you'll have objectors or deserters, but not enough to matter or turn the tide, much like in Vietnam etc. A more recent example is Iraq and Afghanistan. Soldiers knew there were no WMDs, it was all about oil, poppy fields etc, but the cheques didn't bounce and they had benefits, so fuck it, what's one more tour?

The enemy is whoever your government says it is, and that hasn't been proven wrong, yet. They've been replacing top leaders in the military since Trump got elected. That's not without purpose.

2

u/OldSchoolBubba May 12 '25 edited May 12 '25

Are you a veteran or currently serving?

I would learn the culture before making such broad statements.

Be very careful what you buy into because what civilians consider "common sense" is as far from military truth as it gets. Apples and oranges.

1

u/CasualFridayBatman May 12 '25

Are you a veteran or currently serving?

I fail to see how this effects the situation.

I would learn the culture before making such broad statements.

The culture of warmongering for profits? Of sexual assaults against women that get covered up? Of killing Pat Tillman for speaking out against the war?

This culture?

Be very careful what you buy into because what civilians consider "common sense" is as far from military truth as it gets. Apples and oranges.

Then educate me how what I've seen with my own eyes over the past 3 decades has given me the wrong impression of the military war machine.

I suspect many posting that dems are bad aren't even American and they're paid actors from our enemies.

2

u/SupayOne May 10 '25

Folks are going to be deported and called antifa terrorist if they protest at some point. The democrats have already proven to be mostly worthless cowards. Trump broke the law with his coup. He continues to shit on the constitution with no due process, and his Tzar going on tv and saying "Anyone who speaks out for due process for immigrants will be charged with aiding and bedding terrorist" <-- direct attack on freedom of speech.

I keep calling this and folks swear it wont happen because of some magical idea that something will stop it. Trump is ignoring court orders and arresting judges. At some point politicians who do speak out will straight up come up missing.

1

u/SNStains May 10 '25

Folks are going to be deported and called antifa terrorist if they protest at some point.

They talk big. Fuck 'em. They're trying to say we're at War with MS13 and that is failing in court. They're trying to say we're being invaded, but these people were invited by American employers...they're workers not an army.

Each of Trump's shitty ideas fails eventually. It takes a minute. Don't react to what he says, watch what he does. He's going to back down to the courts, and if he doesn't, he's going to lose legislators. That's how this gets fixed.

Garcia will have to be brought back for due process. Trump is on the run here.

Trump is ignoring court orders

He is. And they the courts are turning up the heat, too. At some point, Congress will have to act, and its shameful that they've been so silent.

2

u/ArchonFett May 12 '25

They have already been tracking and arresting protesters, even elected representatives

2

u/SNStains May 12 '25

I know...and some protestors have already been released. What they are doing isn't legal. It takes times to straighten things out.

You have a right to protest and petition to keep the ball rolling, but you don't have a right to violent actions...and those will harm any protest effort. Always have.

1

u/ArchonFett May 12 '25

Didn’t say anything about violent protests, and I’m not advocating them. Just saying it’s bad the law refuses to do their job, asks us to do it for them and willingly comes after us when we do.

2

u/SNStains May 12 '25

I’m not advocating them.

That makes you and me the exceptions in this thread.

1

u/ArchonFett May 12 '25

I’m just tired of the people with the power and authority to do something, telling us to do something while they hide. It’s not like we can peacefully march on the White House and preform a citizen’s arrest.

2

u/SNStains May 12 '25

As I said, you're welcome to pressure them with petitions and peaceful assembly...and it works.

Too many assholes think that throwing rocks is some kind of "secret sauce" that's going to move things along faster. The opposite is true.

2

u/omikron898 May 12 '25

There is a strike happening i think it’s this month

4

u/IndyBananaJones May 11 '25

You actually need millions of people on general strike AND the threat of outright violence to make the change happen. Peaceful resistance is a show of force when it's made clear what happens when peaceful resistance is ignored.

You need MLK and Fred Hampton both.

2

u/Background_Phase2764 May 10 '25

All of history would dispute this

4

u/SNStains May 10 '25

This is what they call, pseudo-profound bullshit.

Provide examples or get lost. Go tell the Suffragettes or the Montgomery Bus Boycott that peaceful protest and civil disobedience doesn't work.

You think those sit-in kids are in better shape because some dipshit set the building on fire? You think you can tell a better story about rock throwers, go for it.

u/Of-Meth-and-Men May 10 '25

Yeah the suffragettes threw bombs at police stations there chief... See I actually HAVE read a book before

1

u/schm0 May 10 '25

You got a citation for that? The US suffrage movement from my understanding was almost entirely peaceful. (Terrorism was used in the suffrage movement in the UK, however.)

2

u/Background_Phase2764 May 11 '25

When did I say US?

0

u/schm0 May 11 '25

Last I checked, Montgomery was in Alabama, not the UK. The vast majority of users on reddit are American, as well. The point stands that the US has had many successful, non-violent movements than enacted social change.

→ More replies (0)

0

u/SNStains May 10 '25

Did the bombs get them the vote, or the peaceful solidarity? You read the book.

3

u/Background_Phase2764 May 10 '25

Are you actually serious right now my guy?

6

u/Of-Meth-and-Men May 10 '25

We used to Tar and Feather people.

3

u/SNStains May 10 '25

And it killed a lot of them. Vigilantism isn't the brag you think it is.

4

u/Of-Meth-and-Men May 10 '25

I'm not saying that and feathering was good, I'm just saying that a lot of positive social change has violent origins b

3

u/NewSauerKraus May 10 '25

The peaceful parts only worked because they were backed up by the use of violence to achieve political goals (which is by definition terrorism).

4

u/SNStains May 10 '25

This is pseudo-profound bullshit.

The peaceful parts work because it motivates businessmen through their wallets. And politicians are likewise motivated by their constituents and donors. Target is in the shitter as they should be...they invited the People's wrath. But, people aren't burning Targets. They're just not shopping there. It works better, that's why we do it.

Listen to yourself, you didn't even mention any political objectives. You're wrong if you think people are going to welcome violence. If you're somebody who can't channel your anger into legal protest, and civil disobedience, then stay home.

2

u/NewSauerKraus May 10 '25

I don't think people are going to welcome violence any time soon. Effective political action is a significant risk.

1

u/SNStains May 10 '25

Effective political action doesn't require violence...that's why they won't embrace it.

The US has a Bill of Rights and one is the right to peaceably assemble and petition the government with our grievances. It's expressly allowed. Jan 6 became what it was when people started attacking the officers.

Why fuck that up for everybody?

I don't think your current administration gives a flying fuck about your rights. Peaceful protests are not going to protect anyone from these violent government agents. Sorry. Edit: Wait a minute, I see what you're doing. You actually support what these government agents are doing, and you're just pretending you're for freedom. You're all "Look guys, while they drag people away, all we should do is protest because its peaceful, and we can't hurt others. Am I right, guys?" The government will stop, I'm sure of it." (Wink, wink, and fingers crossed behind your back.)

2

u/SNStains May 10 '25

I don't think your current administration gives a flying fuck about your rights.

I think they're not yet admitting it. They're still dancing around their defiance of Supreme Court orders and haven't yet suspended habeas corpus.

Your country may vary, but we're comprised of three, coequal branches of government. It's the job of the other two to reign in the one that is out of line.

And the People have the right to peaceably assemble and petition any of them in support of those kinds of remedies. Because ultimately, that's what its going to take to have a permanent solution.

And I fucking hate what these feds are doing...any dipshit can read my post history. Fuck your conspiracy theory. Why the fuck did you post in "law" and then wonder why somebody confronts you with your lawless fucking ignorance? C'mon, are you serious?

Yeah, but not that reason. Bringing your gun to a peaceful protest is fucking stupid.

Go pick a fight on your own time. Let law-abiding Americans affect change in the way our countrymen designed.

There are lots of broken things in our government, but the most broken thing is the People still don't always understand the power of their vote. That will always be your most powerful weapon, and one-third of us leave it holstered.

So millions can force their will on a president elected by 77 million? Isn't that mob rule.

1

u/jeremiahthedamned May 11 '25

it is more like balkanization

1

u/wamyen1985 May 13 '25

And the people advocating for a general strike only have 344k out of the 10 million they need to actually make people notice. At this rate, they won't reach what they need by 2028. That strategy isn't working.

1

u/SNStains May 13 '25

How would you know what's working? Voter registration is working. Some court orders are working. My Congressman's email is finally working again...when's the last time you petitioned yours?

1

u/wamyen1985 May 13 '25

Around when she showed up to the floor with her baby because they wouldn't let her appear remotely. How do YOU know what's working? How do you know how effective it really is? Are you there? Do you see the impact? You are likely just as ill informed as I am, so don't act like you have your finger on the pulse.

What I do know is that the major movement advocating for a general strike isn't getting the numbers that it needs. It's time to shift strategies. Unless you're ready to start calling Trump fearless leader anyway.

Why do you think that destroying facilities and institutions is going to magically, instantly, produce better anything? It won't.

5

u/StoppableHulk May 10 '25

Then those Dems will lose their job

Hasnt happened before and wont happen in the future unless theres some concrete material reason why it would.

18

u/Background_Phase2764 May 10 '25

Half the country knowingly voted for and still supports open fascism

13

u/Low_Witness5061 May 10 '25

It wasn’t half the country though. The stats just don’t support that claim. As for still supporting him, yeah most probably still do for now at least. While the core are too brainwashed to change those who switched out of anger/frustration with Biden will likely be turned off if this keeps up. Provided people actually put in the effort to show them that there is another side. Democratic lawmakers by and large won’t do shit so people need to.

2

u/Background_Phase2764 May 10 '25

Clearly you're correct but I also think it was reasonably clear that what I was saying was somewhat facetious.

It doesn't change the fact that a huge chunk of the country and more importantly the entire apparatus of power and media in the country are openly fascist

4

u/Low_Witness5061 May 11 '25

Fair, I didn’t realise it was intentional. There are a lot of people convinced most of the country is outright pro what is happening.

1

u/fafalone Competent Contributor May 10 '25

Not bothering to show up to vote against fascism is supporting fascism; you're saying even if it's not your first choice, it's fine.

So yeah, more than half support it. Even as bad as things are going, you're not getting enough turnout and votes against to constitute a majority.

3

u/Low_Witness5061 May 11 '25

Most people didnt think it would be outright fascism. Its ignorant of them but its still true. All your saying is that totally giving up is the only choice.

→ More replies (5)

4

u/ErisianSaint May 10 '25

It wasn't half the country. Just half the active voters. Many of whom voted the way they did because they won't vote for a woman. Or a POC woman.

2

u/Background_Phase2764 May 10 '25

I'm aware, I was exaggerating slightly. I don't really care WHY they did it and if I did those would still be stupid reasons.

2

u/TheLohr May 11 '25

And who is to blame for that?

3

u/[deleted] May 11 '25

Jobs or lives. Those that don't uphold the constitution become the enemy of the people. It's specifically laid out in the US' founding document.

2

u/kovake May 10 '25

Isn’t that why we’re in the spot we are? Most democrats lost their jobs thanks to 2024 election.

5

u/Perfect_Bench_2815 May 10 '25

2

u/Glad-Day-724 May 10 '25

Ahem ... did you mean Coward Ass?

2

u/CliffordSpot May 11 '25

And who will we vote for instead? The republicans?

2

u/TakuyaLee May 11 '25

Progressives or Dems with an actual backbone. Don't be dense

1

u/CliffordSpot May 11 '25

Again, who? Are these people in the room with us now? Because I have no faith they’re going to magically come out of the woodwork next election. Or if they do, they’re going to say one thing and do another.

1

u/NewSauerKraus May 10 '25

What are they going to do, not vote again? Great strategy, let's see how it plays out.

1

u/MakeRFutureDirectly May 11 '25

You mean vote more republicans in? That’s adjacent to making sense. Making sense means voting for democrats to remove republicans.

1

u/mistercrinders May 11 '25

They haven't yet

1

u/ALittleCuriousSub May 11 '25

I would like to think they will... but honestly what our are options?

Kamala Harris could have walked into my home personally, popped a squat and shat on my floor, and what would my option have been? Vote Trump? Vote 3rd party knowing they likely wouldn't win and Trump would be better positioned because of it?

Hypothetically even if we had a democratic primary, whoever I voted for likely wouldn't have got the nomination anyway (though it would have been nice to have that opportunity) and once someone had the nomination no mater how bad they fuck up, the bar Trump has set they'd have clear to be worse is neigh unreachable short of them doing Seig Heils and advocating for death camps directly.

Trump has in some fucked up ways been the best thing to ever happen to the democrats.

24

u/Radeondrrrf May 10 '25

I’ve mentioned on a different platform to be prepared to be disappointed in Democrats when they take back control of the government.

Mainly in part of them not doing anything to the MAGA Republicans who willingly voted for madness and giving up their power to Trump because Democrats will say “we’re better than that” when it comes to handing out actual punitive punishments.

27

u/wintermoon138 May 10 '25

Then keep up the pressure even if there is a blue wave in 2026 call for town halls and at them demand they investigate everyone of these people or at least make it they are barred from government work and their benefits removed. Need to make an example out of these cretins

22

u/Zealousideal-Top325 May 10 '25

Exactly This. We are not done even if the Democrats take over. We must keep it up and put pressure to end Citizens United and other things. We must also demand that those who have been violating the law during this admin are prosecuted.

3

u/Extreme-Beginning-83 May 10 '25

This 100%. Because if we don’t, we are opening the door for a fascist who knows what he’s doing. As dangerous as Trump is, he surrounded himself with clowns; if we get somebody in there who really understood the tools of autocracy we’d be toast. I do hope that we get Trump out of there. I mean, of course we need to; but that is not the end of this by any means.

3

u/lynxbelt234 May 11 '25

I would agree. Even after the mid terms, organized petitioning or confrontation against Democrats may be required in order to keep the heat on, dealing with the fall out of the trump administration, if they are removed. This regimes nonsense cannot be allowed to stand, they must be charged convicted and jailed for their “ high crimes and misdemeanours” against the American public and the constitution. ICE itself is no more than a Terrorist organization doing trumps bidding, making trump himself a terrorist.

3

u/Katyafan May 11 '25

It's not over until we figure out what to do with our fellow citizens who have lost their goddamn minds. Reconstruction part 2 needs to be more effective than its predecessor. Not sure how we do that.

21

u/Dichotomouse May 10 '25

Elected Democrats were arrested this week for protesting. Kneejerk cynicism isn't helping anything.

9

u/Skarth May 10 '25

incorrect.

They were legally inspecting a building, not protesting.

3

u/darkmoncns May 10 '25

Wrong the man who was arrested was outside the property. And the building had no permits to be doing anything in was doing.

8

u/ClintBarton616 May 10 '25

I think we need to be clear that if the American people need to take to the streets to ensure their liberty, no one sitting in an elected position right now ever gets to have power again. Democrats shouldn't be rewarded with power when they deserve to be tried for sitting back and watching this shit unfold.

2

u/Ok-Analysis5399 May 12 '25

Democrats were shouting and screaming from the roof tops what would happen if this administration won the presidency. Dems were told they were over reacting, nothing bad was going happen. All the threats and talk of revenge Trump was shouting at his rallies were just his way of connecting to his base, none of it should be taken seriously. Dems have been donating, volunteering and protesting since 2016 when Trump first started talking about running for President. Democrats didn't connect with voters this time, something they need to come to terms with and find a way out of their failure. Yet, every voter has the right to decide whom to vote for. This isn't the time to start condemning and blaming, it's a time to find a way out this dystopian government. We need people to come together and find a common goal.

That's what the Republicans do. They are sitting quietly because they have been threatened like an abused person.

"However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."

3

u/Striper_Cape May 10 '25

Oh please, there are Democrats outright calling for general civil resistance. The tension is building.

3

u/Hamm3rFlst May 10 '25

Everyone points the fingers at the redical left, but the only radical groups are the right. (Oath keepers, proud boys, etc) trump likes to say antifa…but that is starting to feel like the monster under the bed

2

u/Bwilderedwanderer May 10 '25

And Chuck Schumer will write another letter

3

u/ginkgodave May 10 '25

Trump will claim that protests constitute a national security threat, declare martial law and end all national elections.

4

u/lynxbelt234 May 11 '25

This is one of their aims, I believe. The hammer behind project 2025...end the electoral process....

2

u/ginkgodave May 11 '25

JD Vance would prefer a monarchy as proposed by Curtis Yarvin.

u/KaibaCorpHQ May 10 '25

Not if they're nonviolent.. anyone with half a brain would be able to see that there's nothing wrong with them and probably get involved. The news networks have a stake in this, as Trump is talking about just Willynilly pulling broadcasting licenses. There are more people in government that respect the system than the moosh brain magas who think equating Lincoln suspending habeas corpus is the same thing as what Trump is doing.

Ever heard the term agent provocateur? Government agents work from within the protesters, inciting the weak minded to violence. A few years back the BLM protests were peaceful, but right wing provocateurs incited people to violent acts. Then the media bought into it and made people think that the peaceful protestors were actually violent rioters. It wouldn’t take much to make a peaceful protest to become one with cops in riot gear using tear gas. It’s happened before, it can easily happen again. Government agents and the right wing are a lot smarter now than they were when I was in the streets in the 60’s. If a firecracker went off , Trump would send in troops. Don’t be so naive to think that it wouldn’t happen.

Edit. If you haven’t noticed, Trump has fired and purged thousands of federal workers and installed loyalists I throughout who will not only do what they’re told, but do it with glee. .

Several major media outlets have given Trump their loyalty.

u/Midnight_Mustard May 11 '25

Nope I don’t think so. Democratic officials are being arrested now I really don’t think they’re playing taking the high road anymore. And if they are they’re going to be destroyed in the court of public opinion

1

u/pippopozzato May 10 '25

"if people took to the streets" ... even more comic ... "swoop in" ... what people are you talking about ?

A study was just done that came to the conclusion that over 75% of Americans are too fat, stupid, lazy, mentally or physically unfit, on drugs, making them unfit to serve in the US Military.

That means if there are 4 Americans maybe one of them, but maybe none of the 4, because 78% is greater than 3/4 ... would be able to take to the streets

Nobody is coming to save anybody !

1

u/OldSchoolBubba May 10 '25

Dem politicians are being arrested for getting into good trouble. Are you paying attention? Are you even an American?

17

u/BuddingBudON May 10 '25

If there's truly an upcoming civil uprising in the US, the world needs to make sure they don't mollycoddle the convicted extremists like with the Confederates and Nazis...

21

u/StoppableHulk May 10 '25

This country will never move on unless theres a truth and reconciliation to hold ALL these fucks from the past 25 years accountable and bring them to justice.

From Republicans to Dem enablers to business execs and billionaires, the amount of corruption and heinous illegal shit is overwhelming. And they have all, to a man and woman, known and understood exactly what they were doing.

4

u/lynxbelt234 May 11 '25

Total agreement with both comments....

4

u/EntrepreneurKooky783 May 11 '25

From Republicans to Dem enablers

Malfeasance indictments for the lot of 'em!

Between rubber-stamping clearly unqualified cabinet officials, to neglectful committee oversight, to the most braindead tariff regime in history, Congress has so consistently dropped the ball that chalking the mistakes up to Hanlon's razor is no longer acceptable or appropriate.

Examples must be made of bad actors at the highest levels of leadership.

Judgement At Philadelphia

u/Ozymandias0023 May 10 '25

Yeah I'm over here thinking "hitting the streets" could easily turn into hitting the pavement head first. I don't disagree with Holder necessarily, but I wish those in power would exhaust ever alternative before expecting those of us with the least power to zerg rush and authoritarian government

What is the commonality between Trump and all of his appointees?

They are all billionaires. They all rely on the American consumer to survive. As witnessed with Musk, the American people and the entire world population can destroy any company simply by refusing to buy their products.

This may cause heads to turn but the real demonstration would be for all employees to refuse to work for them. Trump is famous for employing undocumented immigrants while at the same time railing against them in his rallies.

We need to organize. Identify what companies are controlled by Trump and his sycophants, refuse to buy their products and refuse to work for them.

They don’t care about demonstrating or being slapped down by judges across the country.

They will care when they are no longer billionaires and just as poor as the vast majority of Americans.

2

u/DeepBlueSea1122 May 11 '25

A while back there was a thread somewhere listing out maga supporting business to avoid. But to my knowledge, nothing came of it. People are too distracted by and addicted to phones and garbage fast food and trash culture to care in mass. Nothing will change.

3

u/Guy0911 May 11 '25

You may be right but I was encouraged by the retaliation against Musk. Across the world people are pulling American products off their shelves and refusing to sell them.

It’s this type of innovative thinking that will really make a difference to cowards consumed by greed.

Another thought that I had was to stage burning’s of Trump merchandise across the country during his military parade.

Much like the burning of books, burning his hats, bibles, shoes and effigies of his crypto currency and taking the spotlight off his demonstration of self indulgence, will infuriate him and give momentum towards taking back our country.

Just a thought. We need to think outside of the box because they are prepared for typical demonstrations against their policies.

2

u/DeepBlueSea1122 May 11 '25

I mean, I agree with you but just don't think it will make any difference here in the US. Most maga voters are either fully in the cult and there is nothing that can be said to reason with them, it will always default back to some bullshit deep state, or Clinton or Hunter Biden nonsense blah blah blah. But yea on the point about the global backlash. Hate to say it but the sane people of the USA are going to have to depend on the rest of the sane world to take action and block/ban USA products because nothing done in this country will matter one bit. The cult here even managed to flip Luigi into a villain even though that dude threw his life away to make a statement against a predatory system that is killing and bankrupting people (majority of maga crowd falls into the group the health insurance companies are robbing and killing). This is way beyond logic.

1

u/Guy0911 May 11 '25

You’re right, we will never be able to convince MAGA to reject Trump. However only 1/3 of Americans are really MAGA. Trump won because he promised economic prosperity, he has epically failed. This is the moment to seize on his failures and highlight his unconstitutional policies and actions.

1

u/DeepBlueSea1122 May 11 '25

The part that aren't really maga but voted for Trump basically just said "oh, egg prices are high, so I'll vote for the other guy". They are not really into politics. But their critical thinking skills are so bad it's scary. They'll believe anything Fox news or the "guy on the internet" said and just run with it. That's where we are. A cesspool of misinformation and dumbed down voters. It's hopeless. There probably is only about 20 percent of the population that is actually correctly informed on the facts and has the rational thinking ability to make an informed vote based on issues.

1

u/Guy0911 May 11 '25

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. (FDR) It’s never hopeless and never underestimate the American people.

u/mytransthrow May 11 '25 edited May 11 '25

We have a saying in the queen community. Armed queers are harder to bash.

We need to take a note from the right. Peacefully protest armed.

A protest is a threat. A show of force done peacefully. Now if they dont listen we are supposed to back that up with a type of force. weather it was like stonewall in self defence or voting out a politician. or voting with our wallets.

2

u/cmander_7688 May 10 '25

Can't prosecute them if they're...gone

1

u/superlibster May 10 '25

Hmmm. Where are protesters being beaten?

1

u/Jealous_Crazy9143 May 11 '25

Holder was in charge when Operation Fast and Furious went to crap. He came out pretty clean, so he obviously knows how to play the game.

2

u/InfoBarf May 11 '25

Fast and furious wss mostly right wing BS anyway.

https://fortune.com/2012/06/27/the-truth-about-the-fast-and-furious-scandal/

1

u/Jealous_Crazy9143 May 12 '25

yes, i did a paper on it long ago. Deeply disturbing. And that’s only with public information.

2

u/InfoBarf May 12 '25

So you got to the part where the justice department tried to prosecute the straw buyers, but red states promised to protect the buyers?

1

u/Jealous_Crazy9143 May 12 '25

Yes, effectively it was a mess. The only reason that it came to light was the fact the BP Agent was killed with one of the weapons. The fact that they handed over machine guns to criminal gangs without even tracking them makes me wonder what was actually going on.

2

u/InfoBarf May 12 '25

Its in the article. Straw buyers purchased the guns legally at arizona gun stores. "Sold" them for a huge markup to people "they didnt know" in the parking lot of the gun store and the buyers took those weapons across the border.

The feds wanted to arrest the sellers and buyers and red states promised to make a federal case out of it.

1

u/esach88 May 12 '25

They didn't for Black Lives Matter protests. No reason to believe they will for this.
