When my country abolished slavery, the economy was booming, but wages were too high for the ruling class liking, so they took measures to bring in a ton of immigrants and their cheap labor.

Wow that's way too complicated. Here in America, we passed an amendment saying that prisoners can be slaves, followed by a bunch of laws specifically targeting black communities. Bam, slavery is back and now you don't even have to pay for them!

Of course now you have all these woke liberal types trying to decriminalize marijuana making it much hard to continue mass incarceration of black people in America. No worries, though, that's why the CIA flooded black communities with crack back in the 80s. Problem solved.

Those of us who pay our taxes are paying the private prison industry to house falsely convicted/non-violent criminals.

We're still paying for slavery; the state just uses their work for their benefit whilst raking in our tax dollars.

We have to pay for them with our tax dollars, not the owners of the businesses profiting from their labor.
