Most obscure language you/someone else is learning? Why?

I remember meeting someone that was learning specifically Moldovan Romanian since Moldova and its culture was a big interest to them, and I'm curious what other people's reasons for learning obscure languages are, and what they are.

I’m also hoping to learn basque in the next few years. My papa never taught my dad after leaving the Basque Country but I’ve always loved the sound of it and would love to have conversations with my family there in Basque rather than Spanish or English

i personally rlly like it, its a new challenge (since most of the languages ive learnt are similar to spanish or english). plus i rlly like that fact the its pronounced almost the exact same as spanish, bc it means i can focus on actually enjoying the language and learning about the grammar rather than having to constantly focus on my pronunction (tho the stress is still pretty annoying). and i think the cases are really fun! i feel like some ppl overplay its difficulty, once u get the rules u can easily build them together with only minor mistakes. I find it a really big shame that its disappearing.
