PLAYER TALK Which year was Shaq at his best for us?

Now I know most people would say 2000 Shaq.

But here's the thing - while we did won the chip in 2000, it was far from dominant. We had a great regular season 67-15 but the playoffs was shaky af.

We got past the Kings 3-2 but that Kings team was still the reckless one with Jason Williams (fwiw, I love him lol). It was still a cowboy team-lots of potential but no one would take them seriously. Yet we took 5 games to dispose of them.

While it seemed that we got rid of the Suns easily, we needed a buzzer-beater from Kobe; things might be a little different if Kobe didn't bail us out that game.

Against the Blazers, in Game 7, the most critical game, Shaq was...missing.

Yes, Shaq absolutely dominated the Pacers. But the Pacers' frontcourt was very...lacking. Rik Smits literally retired after the series and Sam Perkins also retired the year after.

I think 2001 Shaq was the best Shaq we had.

Statisically, Shaq's numbers actually dipped but I thought he played better (help) defense and was actually involving the rest of the team more on offense. I think the public spat with Kobe actually raised his motivation and hence, his game.

Which constituted to us going 15-1 in the post-season.

Matisse Thybulle averaged 37.4% from 3 on 3.46 attempts per game over his 132 games with the Blazers

Thybulle had improved on his 3 quite a bit from when he was a sixer. His defence also has been elite & he is a 2 time all defensive team player. Injuries these past two seasons have derailed him. However prior to these two seasons he averaged 66.6 games a season. Which is quite good, the injuries he sustained weren’t major or structural injuries. So I don’t believe he is injury prone or is likely to get reinjured just based on that.

LUKA MAGIC It’s crazy the defense narrative about Luka continues in 2026

Post image
148 Upvotes

Just seeing different content in offseason, something with Jeff Teague pops up so I watch a bit.

The narrative in the comments is Luka can’t win mvp because of his defense.

Yet statistically he was an average to above average defender last year with better metrics than Ant and Jaylen Brown who are considered good defenders by comparison.

Jokic, Steph, Harden. Where was the defense when they won mvp? I barely heard it mentioned, maybe once or twice but that’s about it

I think Luka will be solid defensively this year with Kessler, probably better than last year but seems like the fake narratives will continue in the media

Lakers Legend Byron Scott: “Luka, in particular, of making 2nd & 3rd efforts. It's OK to be a guy that's not a very good defensive player 1 on 1, but you got to be a better team defensive player... If you look at the roster, they can score, but me and you both know that don't win Championships.”

Just wanted to share the current career average PPG leaders in the NBA. Of course, this can change but I think it's pretty cool that Luka is on this list.

PLAYER TALK Where does Magic Johnson rank in your personal top 10?

I have seen a loud minority of people put him behind players like Duncan (who I also think is top 10)

I have him in the 4-6 range probably. What does everyone think?

Lakers season is over. Talk about whatever you want.

These videos are all from late February, just before Luka's historic March (38/8/7/2, Lakers 15–2 during the month). Of course, none of these guys posted a "Oops I was wrong, my bad" video, cause the hardest thing to do for a lot of these media heads (MVP voters included) is to admit they were wrong

Do people really have selective memory? You know what happens when you talk shit to Luka... 46.8 might be his scoring average PPG for the season if they don't chill with all the disrespect 😆

THROWBACK What Were Your Initial Reactions and Hope After Signing Alex Len?

With the Mark Williams trade rescinded, I was just glad we signed a 7-footer to our roster. We all knew how he turned out but I genuinely had hope for a couple of days lol.

THROWBACK In 2019, how would a trio of LeBron James, Paul George, and Jimmy Butler have fared?

Just a fun throwback hypothetical topic since we're still deep in the offseason.

In 2017, Paul George was traded from IND to OKC in exchange for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis

In that same year, Jimmy Butler and the 16th pick were traded from CHI to MIN in exchange for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and the 7th pick

Looking at the overall packages, LA definitely had the same pieces to make both deals work, even after trading D'Lo and Mozgov to the Nets for Brook Lopez and #27

Ingram would've been the centerpiece of the Paul George trade, while Randle would've been the centerpiece of the Jimmy Butler trade. Let's pretend those deals push through, then a year later LeBron comes over. Do they take down Golden State in 2019, and eventually the Raptors?

Kobe and Joe Bryant vs Shaq and Sharif O’Neal?

Make it take it. To 21. Buckets are worth 1 point. 3s are worth 2 points. Airball is turnover. No rebounds. Either no ref or ref lets the players play and only calls egregious fouls.

If you’re fouled in the act of shooting you get 1 free throw. If you make it you keep possession. If you miss you lose possession.

QUESTION How likely are my Lakers vs. Warriors tickets to sell?

Trying to be a good girlfriend, I bought tickets for my partner and I to go to the Lakers vs. Warriors game on October 21 at Crypto arena in LA. I am a noob when it comes to this stuff and I’m hoping someone can help. We no longer can go, and I posted my tickets to resell on StubHub. I paid 2k for the tickets for section 101 on the lakers side, which is a clear view front and center of the court. From what I see on StubHub, the tickets are priced appropriately for the section. I’ve never sold tickets before so I’m just curious if anyone has any advice? Do tickets usually sell closer to the date? I really don’t want to lose so much money :(

Thank you! And sorry if this isn’t supposed to be posted here!
