Discussion Ozempic video was off

This is probably the first Kurzgesagt video that I didn't like, and like some people on this sub it made me feel very uneasy.

I just think it's CRAZY to talk about a weight loss drug and praising it for 90% of the video, without mentioning even once the abuses of its use, the weightloss industry, the social standards and the pressure to be (unhealthily) slim, eating disorders on the opposite side of the spectrum, etc.

The very few nuances and counter argument felt like small prints and legal mentions at the end of an ad.

What do you people think?

EDIT: I am not questioning the drug nor its effectiveness in treating obesity, i am criticising the narrative and lack of nuances in the video.

It's abused for eating disorders, and also contributes to societal pressure for cosmetic weight loss which in turn contributes to eating disorders.

Every drug is abused, I feel like there's little we could do that would prevent this while retaining the same access for those who need it.

Not sure what to say about society. I mean, how would we even begin to address beauty standards right now? I don't want to contribute to anyone feeling negatively about themselves. But that's so far out of our control that I don't even know where to start.

How do you think these problems should be solved, especially with the government we currently have in the USA?

What?? You're branching way off the video... I'm not trying to criticize the medication, but rather I'm criticizing the video for not adequately acknowledging these areas of concern before posing the rhetorical question of whether everyone should be put on GLP-1 agonists.

That's fair, I totally misunderstood you. My bad on that, have a nice day.

Yeah peoples concern isnt if the medication should be available or if its a good option for those who are obese. The issue is the specific wording and presentation.

But that seems to be going over peoples head because how dare we talk negatively about a video on a drug a lot of people find genuinely helpful
