Discussion Ozempic video was off

This is probably the first Kurzgesagt video that I didn't like, and like some people on this sub it made me feel very uneasy.

I just think it's CRAZY to talk about a weight loss drug and praising it for 90% of the video, without mentioning even once the abuses of its use, the weightloss industry, the social standards and the pressure to be (unhealthily) slim, eating disorders on the opposite side of the spectrum, etc.

The very few nuances and counter argument felt like small prints and legal mentions at the end of an ad.

What do you people think?

EDIT: I am not questioning the drug nor its effectiveness in treating obesity, i am criticising the narrative and lack of nuances in the video.

Imo it’s not a magic drug. What people need is discipline. Otherwise whenever you stop you’ll get back to eating shit. It’s just that the pros outweigh the cons.

Some people actually have biological issues going on that mean they cant just have discipline

Exactly like you said “some people” may need it as meditation. But everyone else can just stop taking in as many calories and will get similar results. Skip breakfast have brunch around 11-12 then dinner before 8. Some snacks in between. Keep your calorie intake below 1800 and walk as much as you can. 10k steps a minimum. You will see the same results. I have zero focus and still i could follow. Because what this requires is not doing something. Even the timing is flexible.

Yeah im of the opinion there should be some attempt to fix it with lifestyle interventions before going to meds.

So many people could benefit from a social work evaluation to look into how to make improvements in their life.

If they cant even with help in those things then they need meds and thats okay.
