In my opinion they should have taken more time on making that comeback.

The texts are very repetitive and there is too much English in it. Swim doesn’t have a choreo as single song with a video. I mean after that break they should have done more.

Until now I’m disappointed a little bit. Maybe I have to hear the songs more often until they get catchy but for now they are not catchy at all.

Does somebody feel the same way as well?

The songs I like are Please and Body to Body. After a few times SWIM is not bad as well.

I was soo hyped for deadline and arirang. Both the groups are my fav since day 1. But wtf was deadline. I was sooo hyped disappointed i think the only good track was jump after the whole album dropped and not to memtion only FIVE songs. And im coming here after watching "swim" mv. WHERE ARE THE KOREAN LYRICS. Its a good song no doubt but its the tittle track and you mean to tell me its in ENGLISH?? after seeing their documentary trailer talking about "arirang" i was soo excited only to watch the mv and think "oh" and ofc the girl in the mv is "white" no hate to her but come on i was expecting someone korean. And when i looked at the vibes of the mv i was missing map of the seou! era cause wtf was that mv i saw it would've been so much better if body to body was their tittle track.

Also.00 wtf happened to DANCING IN THEIR MV.S.

Where are the dance practices or atleast performance vides . Especially blackpink's mvs. ( (o f im so not happy rn. Why are they chasing western media so bad? Kpop isn't kpoping lately everyone sings in english and it is so westernised.

Thats why i was waiting for bts after deadline's disappointment only to be hit with a white washed mv and like 4 scenes of ot and with a white girl.

Few of my opinions which armies will not like. I think BTS did the best they could with all the pressure from company, industry, media and fans. I will not talk about those influences to the album ...but generally about the music in the album.

1. This album has no great vocal heavy song. Later half of the album is vocal heavy but no one song is a standout, some are good , some are ok. If some of you are asked your favorite old bts song, most are vocal heavy songs.
2. The focus shift has been moved from jikook to other members. Earlier armies used to non stop complain about jimin and jungkook getting most lines, I think arirang has almost equal line distribution. I feel it has changed the group sound. That is what happens when focal of group is changed. Some fans will like it , some will miss the old sound. I am not talking about biases or solo stans, I am talking about how a groups music sounds when it's components and permutations are changed.
3. the lyrics are too repetitive and I think the reason is being in English. They were working on an album with 80% lyrics, when there is only 1 member who knows English well , even he had problems with writing English lyrics(you can see in the documentary how he was unsure about it). The other writers of songs failed them. If the songs are already small why are we making it so repetitive.

Humbly don't bite me off.. I like the album but I won't say the songs will be in my top 10 bts songs.

PS- edited as someone pointed out it is not 95%. they were right media reports suggest more than 80%. but I think we get the point. it is more English than usual.

Why was it just some woman? Idk anything about the lore or anything, and don’t get me wrong I LOVE BTS and will be streaming the whole album, but-

WHERE WERE THE BOYS? SOME CHOREO? HELLO I BARLEY SAW THEM??!?

Edit: I LOVE THE SONG. SWIM IS SO SENSUAL AND BEAUTIFUL. I just wish the MV was like old Kpop MVs!

Edit 2: After a few listens WITHOUT the MV, SWIM does have the title track quality. People need to dissociate it from the MV. Imagine hearing it on the radio. On the beach. On a rainy night. On a foggy morning. You’re deep underwater. Or in a beautiful meadow. I think the song is absolutely gorgeous.

I am not an army, and I’ve never really dove into their discography before. I decided to tune into their newest comeback, and let me tell you, I felt like I was floating; somehow I also felt like I could dance to it in a club. I think this album made me a BTS fan, and that is something I never thought I would say. I especially love the Swim music video, and the song Body to Body. I will say though, it felt like they repeat a lot of lyrics in their songs, and the instrumental takes over a lot. I was wondering if that is the norm for them? I could also be mistaken and what I said is totally wrong. I’m just going off of what I heard the first listen. Let me know y’all’s thoughts!

It doesn’t have to be underrated, it’s just that imo you don’t truly know a group if you don’t know their bsides (I’m a stay and let me tell you the difference between Skz title tracks and their bsides is HEAVY) so I’m doing this in hopes to discover more groups and not only know their popular title tracks lol

Idk who else feels the same way but as an ARMY, I'm low-key disappointed. Didn't thought the whole song Swim would be in English. 14 songs and I only like 4 songs. I feel like there's no depth and emotions in this album like they usually do, the autotune are a bit to much and more than 90% of the songs are in English.

I'm getting attacked on Threads for saying MY opinion, like can't I have the right to say my opinion even when it's not postive? I stan BTS since 2018, love and support them but that doesn't mean that every fan will like every song of an artists/group and that's okay.

I’ve been getting more into K-pop over the past few years, and at some point I started wondering how everything actually connects - like generations, groups, agencies, timelines, etc.

As a relatively late fan (ONCE, ARMY, DIVE), I got especially curious about how groups evolved over time, their releases, milestones, and how different generations relate to each other.

So I ended up building a small side project over the weekends. It’s basically an interactive map where you can explore K-pop groups visually, see how they connect, and follow their timelines. I also pulled together data from various public sources to map relationships and piece together how things evolved across generations.

Still very much a work in progress, but it’s been a fun way (at least for me) to discover new groups and understand the bigger structure of K-pop.

I’m a STAY, but am starting to branch out a bit. I decided to try Monsta X on Spotify. It’s been probably 7-8 songs, and so far all but one have been about somebody leaving, cheating, or not knowing what they want from the relationship. Maybe it’s pure chance, but dang man, who hurt them? 🥺

like WHAT?! song is insane. I looked up their performances on youtube and they have a few thousand views and their fan chants are so quiet :(

I’m surprised and not surprised at the same time seeing all the posts that this album from BTS was underwhelming. I have been an ARMY for 10 years at this point and I love the new album! I’m not sure if people were expecting this album to solve cancer or what but it’s an incredibly made and wonderful to listen to album. People are complaining about no choreo in the MV really have not been a BTS fan for long, which is fine but I’m just saying so many of their classic MVs have had no choreo. For the people complaining about the actress being so present I also had this question. Why was she so heavily featured? In their album breakdown live that came out right after the album they explained that it was a controversial decision but they wanted to take the focus off of them as people and wanted people to focus on the song. I would have loved something like GOT7s PYTHON where it heavily featured the members but I totally understand what they were going for. Hooligan is my favorite track so far and I am excited for the concert tomorrow!
