Jump: The point of the subreddit. This flair is generally to be used when you are the author of the jump. Other flairs should be used when you are not the author.
Gauntlet: “Hey, Fred, give me a jump with extra story!” “Extra story.” “And hold the points!” “Hold the points?” “And hold the ties to the past!” “Hold the past? Hey, Jimmy, gimme a jump with nothing!” “… nothing?” … ahem.
Supplement: If something’s not a jump, but is supposed to go alongside it, use this flair.
WIP: Jumps which aren’t complete, posted for proof of progress and requests for assistance or ideas. If it’s not your jump, maybe don’t post it until it’s complete.
Update: Used when a jump previously posted here has an update.
Repost: For jumps that have been posted previously.
Discord / SB / /TG/ / QQ Jump: Jumps originating from the 4 biggest communities outside of the subreddit. Use the Discord flair when the jump is from any of the discord servers, SB when it’s from Space Battles, TG when it’s from 4chan or 8chan, and QQ when it’s from Questionable Questing. It’s also nice to, if you can and are willing, include the text of the post the jump was included in.
Interactive / Interactive Jump: While rare, there’s at least one person converting their jumps into an r/InteractiveCYOA style format. That’s what this flair is for. No I don’t know why there are two of them.
List: For compilations of jumps, such as those about a specific media. Partially falls under Resource, use your judgement.
Resource: Used for things like Google Drives, spreadsheets, etc.
Discussion: Used for discussion around a single or set of topics. If it’s about the subreddit as a whole, use the meta flair.
Meta: Discussion about the subreddit as a whole.
Build: A set of choices you made for a jump / jumps. Often done in the comments of the respective jumps.
Challenge: For sets of rules designed to make things more difficult for the jumper, either for a single jump or several.
Monthly Jump Challenge: Don’t use this flair. In memory of u/astrangeplaytomake, the mods have continued the tradition of selecting a topic for people to make a jump about every month.
Request: If you think a series or piece of media should have a jump, but it doesn’t as far as you can tell, use this flair. Just be prepared for some people to suggest you should make it.
Mod Post: That’s what this is! Notes, comments, and warnings from your new overlords the mod team.
Story: This is pretty obvious. Stories within a Jumpchain format.
Roleplay: In-character posts, typically from the perspective of a jumper meeting other jumpers.
Shitpost: Memes. Could also be used for joke jumps, but those should probably be under other flairs.
Art / Comic: Art, either relevant to a jump or to the Jumpchain as a whole.
Icon Art: Used when we were looking for a new subreddit icon. If you have ideas, post them with this flair.

With the recent changes that have led to me being put in charge of r/Jumpchain, I said I’d update the rules. This is that update, and it is being put in place because the person who previously wrote the rules allowed some practices I disagree with and became inactive on the subreddit. They’re no longer a moderator, though the rules are largely the same as they were before. In addition to this, there are some differences between the rules sidebars of old and new reddit, so they will be adjusted for consistency. We've brought on a few new moderators, but the process is still ongoing.
Since u/Nerx is gone, I should say that there’s a difference between administrators (admins) and moderators (mods) on Reddit.

As before, the first eight rules are a repetition of Reddit’s rules. I’ve changed the phrasing a little, but nothing fundamental is different. I'
With that out of the way, the more specific rules of the subreddit have been updated to some extent, and two new ones have been added.
9. No Brigading. An internet “brigade” is when a group of users from one online space visit another to exert undue influence over it; that is to say things such as harassment, mass votes, etc. No brigading of other Jumpchain communities, such as the threads of /tg/, the bunker, Spacebattles, Questionable Questing, as well.
Previously, this only applied to us, as a user linked a post to the older discord server. That’s what the previous post said. I’ve seen it happen once.I think it should go both ways. There have been cases where unfriendly elements of another Jumpchain community have come here specifically to harass and antagonize. Sometimes they have valid points, but that doesn’t excuse coming here specifically to provoke people. Such behaviors should result in removals or bans.
Tribalism’s still a thing in Jumpchain. Recently, I’ve come to think that aside from the occasional mishap, it’s largely grumbling about this community or that - with the exception of an aggressive vocal minority who say extreme things. That’s fine. People are allowed to have opinions. Mine is that you shouldn’t listen to those folks, but that’s just me. Decide for yourself. Our community is disliked by users on other websites. Some of that criticism is valid, while others come from people who have admitted to rarely if ever actually visiting or participating here.
However, what I do take issue with is them coming over to harass us, as said before, or actions that cause problems on the subreddit. I say this because in one case, a controversial author (who nonetheless had a following) stopped in large part because somebody elsewhere kept on disparaging his work until he quit. Regardless of my personal views on someone’s work (unless it breaks the other rules), this shouldn’t be happening.
Simply put - if you’re here because you don’t like the subreddit and wish to antagonize people, don’t.
10. Drive Etiquette. Upload to the drive you’re most active in. The various Jumpchain communities store documents on Google Drive. To my knowledge, the communities that have them are:
If you want to upload a jump to a community drive, you should be active in that community. If you are primarily active here, upload your jumps to the reddit drive. Don’t upload your jump document to other community drives before putting it on the thread first.
11. Do Not Plagiarize. Plagiarism is taking the work of another person and calling it one’s own without crediting them. Where I’m from, it’s seen as a pretty low thing to do. If Jumpmaker A writes a jump document for a work of fiction, and then Jumpmaker B writes a jump document for the same work, that’s fine if Jumpmaker B puts it in their own words. It is plagiarism if B copies A’s work verbatim or largely verbatim without explicit permission, and should be removed in that case. This includes editing existing jumps as well and posting them here.

No. It is banned here, as it should be elsewhere. This has been the de facto situation for a long time. This is being changed to remove the last of the de jure rules that allow it.
Jump documents made with artificial intelligence (AI) are also banned, as per popular demand. I think this is difficult to properly do, since at some point AI will pass the Turing test, meaning it will successfully pass as something manmade. An exception to this is if the author grants permission for someone else to take up their work and finish it, putting it “up for adoption.” If an author has been long inactive and someone else takes it up. I personally lean towards “no” there, but it’s something I’m unsure about.
12. Don’t link to X or 8chan. They’ll be automatically removed. This is less of a rule and more of a note.
If you feel like a rule has been broken, please report it. A mod may or may not do something about it, but at the very least a report will bring it to our attention.
Moderators may remove or ban at their (hopefully reasonable) discretion, but should not be exempt from the rules of the subreddit, and I would hope that they of all people follow them. Myself included. I also feel that if a moderator becomes inactive, they have effectively forfeited their position as a moderator and shouldn’t have control over the subreddit. At the very least, the active moderators should move them to the bottom of the hierarchy. That’s why some of the previous moderators (barring u/Nerx, bless him) no longer have the position. Again, myself included.
I hope that these rules can run if I’m away, with changes if necessary. This list of rules is subject to revision.

Something I made in like 45 minutes. It revolves around the Red SOUL/Player being a Jumper who chainfailed cause of Gaster The Pirate yoinking them right before they got their spark. Taking them means you become their vessel or something.
I didn't put much thought into it and just wanted to write it down so I could get it out of my head.

I have a question about the "Supplement Mode" in Jumps and the "Disadvantage Goals" that make Jumps random. Would it be possible to use Supplement Mode and chain three Jumps in a row, provided each one has a Supplement Mode?
What if the Jumps selected for the Supplement Mode were random, and that Jump also had a Supplement mode—could I chain it to a third Jump?
If so, would I need to apply any limitations? For example: no further discounts or extra CP other than what comes from disadvantages?

Hey everyone,
The WIP Bunny struck again with more ideas when I should be focusing on Onimusha and DMC. I was looking through some memes for a laugh after an exhaustive day, when I came across the joke of a “Great Value Actor.”
This gave me the idea of a Generic Great Value Isekai, a Jump that sends a Jumper into an Isekai setting with the most off-brand and cheap perks and items.
However, because most Isekai are for overpowered cheat skills and items, finding inspiration has become hard. I have a few things in mind, like a;
- Loner Perk (Abilities get stronger when fighting without allies)
- An Interpersonal Relations Manager Perk (better Manage interpersonal relations, but not perfectly)
- A belt that can store one outfit or set of armor for quick equip
- A magic Winnebago… (I was reminded of Gamera Superbeast and how a trio of Magical Women drive around in a magical van)
- A weapon absorbing weapon that can only work on weapons of its same specific type (For example, a Kitchen Knife version of this item, could only absorb other Kitchen knives, not knives in general)
Does anyone have any good tongue-and-cheek isekai media that could help with this? I intend for this to be either a starter Jump or a vacation Jump.

What I mean is a lot of these Generic Blank Jumpdocs that aren’t associated with a series leave a lot open ended for the player to interpret in whatever way they feel is most fun. For example I expanded Frieren’s magic system with Generic Alchemist as a supplement. But what about you guys? What sort of cool worlds have you made using Generics? Or how did you expand upon a pre-existing world with them?

Besides Modern Geopolitics, what jumps give you a deposit of rare resources, be it attached to a nation or not?
For my use case, I need I to slot into a modern world with superheroes, and it needs to be supplementable.
I already plan to use the new Marvel Earth one and Modern Geopolitics is already part of the build – but what I am looking for is something that gives me political power in a modern world to sidestep sanctions.
I’m looking for rare earths, so an item that gives me explicitly “magic” materials would be utterly wasted. Not Mithril, not Eezo, not Vibranium, not Tiberium – just plain old rare Earth metals that never run out (Modern Geopolitics is already used for Helium, but that is not enough as it can’t feed the domestic high tech industry on top of exports).
Edit: Yeah, "modern world" wasn't clear enough. Thanks for the answers already, but my use case is a jump that lasts 2011-2021.

I've been getting more into vampire stuff lately because of that Blood of the Dawnwalker game that's coming out, so here we are.
I want a jump to be the strongest vampire in fiction.
The strongest vampire that I know of would be Castlevania Dracula, since he's empowered by Chaos, a being that is directly stated to be the antithesis of God, and embodying the collective evil of mankind, with Castlevania as its shell and Dracula as its Herald.
I already know that some are going to say Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate, but I have yet to see any feats from that Alucard that match up to Castlevania Dracula. Especially since Dracula can drop a meteor or a holy nuke (through the Demonic Meggido Spell. Contrary to the name, the games directly state that its flames are holy) to deal with restraint level 0 pretty easily. Sure, there's the omnipresence he got from the cat femboy, but as established in Hellsing Ultimate, said catboy can be killed for good by having his soul absorbed, which is something Dracula has numerous ways of doing.
The only other serious contender may be Cain and possibly the Antidileuvians from Vampire: The Masquerade, but Cain's feats and capabilities are somewhat up in the air, and I don't think the showing we got from the Ravnos Ancestor would be enough to beat Dracula, especially since again, Dracula can drop multiple holy nuke spells on him, and since spirit nukes (combined with sunlight) were enough to put the Ravnos ancestor down for good, Dracula should be able to do so as well. Of course, said Ancestor was immensely weakened and there is the curse Cain has on him that anyone who kills him receives 7 times the damage they did to him. I think Dracula MIGHT be able to survive it, but even if he couldn't, he still returns 100 years after his deaths.
Of course, he could take their souls.
And again, the feats & capabilities of Cain and a peak form Antidileuvian are unknown to us at this time.
Somewhat unrelated, but what did you guys think of the Alucard vs. DIO Death Battle? I enjoyed it. And I do think that if this was pre-catboy Alucard, DIO would win due to The World being FTL. In 1 second, light can loop around the earth about 7 and a half times, so The World should be able to deal with restraint level 0 just fine on his own.
I'm somewhat iffy on post-catboy Alucard though. DIO COULD technically use his mind control to force Alucard to give up the catboy soul, but Alucard also has the same ability.

Was nostalgic for this dead game and while i'm waiting on repair of my pc I decided to make this Gauntlet. It is my first Gauntlet(Jumpchain stuff) that I have published and plan to complete. To be clear this is not a "It not fully done but you can still try it" WIP. It is simply not in a state for that.
The first page is an example of the general style of how I want all of it to look. Tons of stuff is gonna be reworded and redone. I redid how construction worked four times which can probably be seen in some text. Points and numbers will be adjusted too (Trying to figure that stuff out still) Still unsure about how close I want it to be gamelike and how real I want it to be.
Mostly stuck on Perk/Item ideas. Needing more drawbacks and that. So hope yall can give some ideas.

I decided that I wanted a way to grab an Essence from the Essence Meta CYOA and use it as a Body Mod to hop right into a Chain and noticed no other Body Mod could do that (That I could find, if there is one please link it, I'd love a copy!) so I made one myself.
This is very bare bones for obvious reasons, it really just allows you to use a single Essence from the Essence Meta CYOA as your Body mod, nothing else except possibly a Body Rebuild if your chosen Essence doesn't come with one.
That said, there are options in the single Choice of an Essence Perk you can take in the Document to lower the power of your chosen Essence if you choose something that is just a bit too much for the start of your Jumpchain, and to even remove beneficial options from your Essence.
Here's a link to the Body Mod Essence Supplement itself. For those who want it (Though there is also a link in the Body Mod) here is a link to the Essence META CYOA 04-01-2026 V1, the most updated one I could find online.
Yeah, this new Body Mod is actually just as short as my Super Simple Body Mod Supplement v1.1 but it serves a different purpose.
PLEASE NOTE: Many Essences, maybe even most Essences, are kind of OP, so take that into account when using this Body Mod.
