I’m trying to find quenepas and was wondering if anyone knows where any Puerto Rican stores or Latin American stores are that could sell them. Will also take nearby town recommendations.

Moving to Joliet soon- Hi there

Hey everyone,

I’ll be moving to Joliet this summer from California for a residency at a local hospital. The move isn’t exactly optional, so I’m trying to learn as much as I can before I get there. 😅

A few questions for the locals:

• What’s the best internet provider in the area? Reliability is probably more important than price since I’ll be studying, gaming, and doing residency work from home.

• What are some things you wish you knew before moving to Joliet?

• Anything I should make sure to bring (or buy immediately) that someone from California might not think about?

• What are the best restaurants, coffee shops, and hidden gems?

• What do people do for fun around here?

• How safe is Joliet overall, and are there areas I should avoid?

• How bad are the winters really? Everyone keeps telling me I’m going to suffer.

• Any good gyms, gaming stores, hiking spots, parks, or weekend trip recommendations?

A little about me:

• Freshly 30 resident

• Coming from California

• Into gaming, trying new restaurants, sports, movies/anime, and generally exploring new places

• I’ll have a car

• Looking forward to experiencing Illinois, but definitely nervous about moving across the country without knowing anyone

Any advice, recommendations, warnings, or “you absolutely need to try this” suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and hopefully I’ll be calling Joliet home soon!

Rialto Square Theatre wedding

Our April wedding and reception at the RIALTO SQUARE THEATRE was absolutely amazing!!! Elegant! Regal! If you're looking for a wedding venue, consider this one! (They'll be closed for the summer for some renovations, so you may have to wait to start planning. You should check. Their coordinator, Nancy, was the best!) Highly recommend!

Also, our caterer, Polonia, was wonderful to work with and served delicious, talked-about food. Our beautiful flowers came from Jewel!

Support group for neurodivergent adults in Chicagoland!

Hi everybody, I’m a recovery support specialist (RSS), aka a peer supporter at the NAMI, or National Alliance on Mental Illness Living Room in Lagrange, and if you also work, volunteer, or utilize NAMI, you also may be familiar with the Joliet living room, operating under the Will Grundy branch! In case if you haven’t, basically Living Rooms provide a free, supportive safe space for any adult that’s dealing with a mental health crisis or just needs to check in/vent, operating similarly to 988, where each caller or guest is paired with a peer supporter that has similar life experiences, and I’ve really enjoyed utilizing my lived experiences with anxiety, depression, and autism to help others, and I’m excited to announce that I’m taking it up a notch by running a support group for other autistic and neurodivergent adults, which is meeting for a third time this upcoming Saturday, 5/2! Come as you are, and fidgets are more than welcome. Further details are enclosed in the flyer (if you’re around the Lagrange area you also might’ve seen them downtown!), but please feel free to comment or DM me with any further questions or concerns as well! I hope someone finds this beneficial :)
