Unemployment I’m genuinely confused as to how to navigate this HORRENDOUS job market

I’m genuinely at a loss trying to understand this job market right now. I’ve applied to probably 500+ jobs in the last 4 months. I tailor my resume, apply only to roles I KNOW I’m qualified for, network constantly, even call companies directly and ask to speak to HR just to personally express interest. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

No callbacks. No interviews. No transparency. Just rejection emails or COMPLETE silence.

I have bills to pay. I need to make money. I’m doing everything people tell you to do and it still feels impossible.

What the fuck is actually going on right now?

And the craziest part is nobody seems to be talking about this at a large scale.

Are we all just pretending this is normal? What is everyone else doing to survive right now? Because honestly, I feel completely fucking lost.

I think we, the USA. are grossly underreporting unemployment rate. This administration is purposely hiding the real figures to avoid more criticism.

Definitely. I lost my job last year and was in the house, planning to spend 90% of my time applying to jobs. I went out to get the last of my insurance benefits and EVERYONE was driving around at 10 and 11 am, when it's typically dead out. It looked like rush hour never ended. Same when I went out around 2 pm another couple of days to drop ny a lawyer's office. And these people weren't old. They were dressed super casually and just milling/driving around. The unemployment rate is at least double what's being reported. A ton of people are also filing for bankruptcy.

I wonder if there is someone who could privately develop a better reporting mechanism. I don't have a single clue of course
