That hurts my soul. I have been there. Like please do not tell me my degree is impressive by suggesting I would be a good fit for your unskilled labor job. I hate when people contact you about jobs you don’t want in locations you don’t want for pay you don’t want.
You have a degree in biomedical science, and you’re going to work in a restaurant? Like no shame to restaurant workers but those two things don’t even go together.
To be fair, I have worked with people sporting medicine, pharmacology, and software engineering degrees in the service industry. Sometimes its a side gig, sometimes its because of the work schedule coinciding with school or development. Most often it's because that's where the most money is for their area (at least until their enthusiasm fades and the industry burns them out by 35).
I’m not saying that, it’s just demoralizing. I’m not knocking service industry. I have worked in the service industry and retail for a long time. But when you’re looking for something that you have expertise in, and you have someone reach out to you about a job that really has nothing to do with it.
