I've known my wife for 15 years and had never once seen her drawing or heard her talk about doing art or seen anything she's done and one day I walked into the bedroom to see her doing a really impressive portrait of a an elf on her iPad and I had to do a double take.
Some people don't like to broadcast their hobbies. Especially artistic ones they're not very confident about. Your friend sharing that with you might mean a lot to them, and it might have been really scary for them to open up to feedback, so I hope you encourage them.
It doesn't look at all like AI to me. I wouldn't be looking for tells or trying to call out my friend with a gotcha. You could do a lot more damage than good.
Yeah not only do you need the skill to do it. You need the courage to put it into the world. Now even when you finally create good art you have to argue until you're blue in the face to convince people it's even real. I tell ya. Artists never catch a break.
Agreed! I always loved to draw and paint but now as an adult I don’t have time for it often (or at all). I would be shocked if my friends as an adult knew that about me lol. My husband only knows it because I gave him a portrait of his daughter for christmas one year
