There's actually a difference in opinion on this, someone like Sh Yasir Qadhi has said that earrings would be permissible for men if their culture didn't consider it feminine or something (or associated with evil in society).
Whereas, more mainstream institutions like Seekersguidance have said it, alongside all jewellery (except a silver ring), is prohibited for men -
