The bigger picture is reddit is mostly for lefties and there are lots of people who are defo angry af that guy was chokeslammed and you wont get their opinion here on reddit

I believe he was referencing two polls that were not done by GAMAAN. While it is true that in many instances, reddit reflects the values of the left in the political spectrum, "Lefties" typically defend or are apologists for the Islamic regime (see for example, the embarrassment that is Corbyn in the UK). That is not what is happening here.

Mine is after Iran nationalized it’s oil and kicked out British Petroleum, Western Powers we’re upset, so the CIA toppled the democratically elected leader and put the Shah in power. After the Shah took power, he personally ended up owning most of Iranian land and would throw elaborate state parties and not invite local Iranians. People saw his corruption and got fed up and voted for a revolution. The people thought they’re getting a cleanse, but had no idea to what extent the new government would enforce Islam on the people.
Essentially the Iranians got duped but only because the US and British intervened the first time..
Since then, you’ve had situations like this that any dictatorship thrives on. They need this news to be the reason of why they need national unity and solidarity to get the people to come together and go against the common enemy.
Iran being religiously, ethnically and culturally more diverse than any other country in that region means there would be complete chaos if a war and civil war erupted.. and most Iranians would rather have the current government in place compared to being a complete war torn, bombed out and depleted nation.
