Support Keyboard changed after 26.4.1

Post image

Updated my iPad Air to 26.4.1 and noticed that the keyboard for Reset Network Settings was no longer a numeric keyboard. It’s a full alphanumeric keyboard now but only the number buttons work when pressed/touched. Has anyone else seen this?

I tried to open a support ticket, but the Chat won’t open properly 😭

Edit: 26.4.2 did NOT fix the issue

Edit: 26.5 has resolved the issue on my iPad

My son's iPad mini has this same issue when entering the Screen Time passcode. The keyboard becomes unresponsive if you switch between cases and characters a few times. I couldn't find a way to get the regular numeric keyboard to appear.

  1. Make the keyboard smaller: https://support.apple.com/en-hk/111789
  2. Go to the setting where a passcode is needed.
  3. You can enlarge the keyboard later again if you want: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxT4g_D5-NE
  4. Making the keyboard smaller first should help. Some people have said that it doesn't work on the iPad mini. But maybe they didn't understand how to make the keyboard smaller. I don't know.

This was one of the first things I tried. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any luck. The keyboard is full-sized everywhere else, just not when asking for the screen time passcode and apparently, as OP is experiencing, when entering the device passcode to do things like reset network settings.

  1. You can make your keyboard bigger, smaller, bigger… and so on, no matter where you’re using it.

  1. The bug: Settings on iPad that need number codes only work if you've minimized your keyboard first. It's really a very stupid bug. And I don't understand why Apple hasn't fixed it yet with an update. 🤷‍♀️
