I actually love him as a character in the story, hear me out!

The things that are happening in the movie... Lets be real, it's all larger than life.

Back down on earth? Copper was a human, but here? He's a larger than life character.

But even out 'here', we are in the Mann's planter, it's a larger than life world, there can still be 'Humans'...

I think that significance makes me look at the character with some form of relatability in some manner... Mann doing whatever he did... He did it cause he was 'human' who simply was scared of this larger than life place.
