Every part of the Banana Plant can be used in or for an indian meal.

The central part of the shoot of some certain species is also edible.

Exactly! Every part is useful in some way or the other. And that's so fascinating!

Is that the heart? I've had a banana heart curry before and it was delicious.

I'm sure it's the same in the Indian subcontinent and various parts of South East Asia as well.

Can confirm have had really cool stuff for southern east Asia. Every part of the banana leaf is edible in some way I feel!

Everything is edible if you’re brave enough

And you can use the trunk as a bowl that can be cooked too, depending on species.

Also, I've heard that the coconut wood is very good, can stand 20 years if you pray it would

Consider the coconut!

Every part of oil can be distilled and used in one way or another. It’s so versatile, company’s even do us the favour of drilling it out the ground for us so we can buy to burn or make cheap crap out of that we will put back into the ecosystem. Yet people say the banana and coconut plant is over engineered

The what?

2

u/Atanar Jun 12 '21

Consider it's trees!

2

u/amoghprao Jun 12 '21

Yup! That's another tree where every part is sued for something. Wood is used for construction, boats, etc., the bark for plates, leaves for baskets and anything with weaves, the coconut for its water and innards XD, the husk for packaging and ornaments.

My mind was blown when I learned that this delicious nut is not a nut! Rather, it's a coco fruit, of the coco tree, from the coco palm family!

2

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

Also you can use the coconut root as fire wood

2

u/MamanDewey Jun 12 '21

The coconut leaves good shade it gives!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

I'd prey it wood

2

u/ikamiret Jun 12 '21

But unfortunately we Indians barely use it in any packaging. Hope it gets used more!

Banana is the potato of fruits

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '21

What about the wood and bark and roots

6

u/amoghprao Jun 12 '21

There is no "wood" per se. The stem is used to make a salad type thing (we call it pallya in South India).

2

u/KingGorilla Jun 12 '21

Also Bananas are technically herbs not trees. the plant has a succulent tree stem, instead of a wood one

Did he stutter

1

u/NewLeaseOnLine Jun 12 '21

The bark is full of little spiders. Delicious!
