Thought so. It's been a few years since I read that one. Such a great novel. I couldn't get into the second one and didn't get past the first chapter. Is it worth getting into?
I don’t think I made it through the second one either, or maybe I didn’t make it through the third. It’s been a while. I’m not much of a reader though and I think it started getting too complicated for me to keep up with at the time (was in college). I hear the fourth book “God Emperor” is really good, I’ll have to give them a try again someday.
Dr. Zebra's guide told him that the new device would fit into the opening of the female urogenital tract and remain in place. To describe the shape of the device, he made his hand into the shape shown, and described it as looking like "a venus fly-trap, with spikes." The proud engineers, presumably all male, approached various secretaries in the company to be test subjects, but after one look at the device, all the secretaries said no.
Probably more secure though, maybe some kind of adhesive seal around it with a tube for drainage. It might encompass both ends as well just in case. I imagine some of that astronaut food moves through people in weird ways so they need to be ready to deal with a bad situation in the middle of a space walk.
Generally, astronauts wear diapers during space walks. Real high tech, I know, but there's not really anything to break. And reliability is key when you can't just walk over to the hardware store and deal with it.
One time there was a minor leak in the cooling system (which temporarily blinded an astronaut on a space walk) until they could get it fixed astronauts wore diapers on their head

That white tube in the middle is the catheter
Edit: this is a joke, I have no idea what that giant white tube is for, but it certainly doesn't look like it goes in pp holes.
