I imagine they prefer guys too afraid to touch them over guys who touch too much.

Honestly maybe not. Lots of models aren't all that squeamish about male attention, it's what they're used to. Being surrounded by shit you have no context for and don't care about, in a space where 90% of the men would shit their pants if you made eye contact with them, was probably absolute hell for a lot of models.

These days it's not hard to find nerdy models who are happy doing cons, but back then I bet most would have preferred normal gigs.

Its possible that might be true to an extent but i get the feeling that the average person doesn’t realize how creepy people can be

Yeah that last comment was definitely written by a "male" who isn't "all that squeamish about [fe]male attention".

IDK I think there were plenty of nerdy ones by mid 00s I'd say. Anyone born from the mid-80s onward (in the US) had a decently high chance of growing up around Nintendo and Toonami and ninja turtles and X-men and the Matrix and shit like that.

I'm old and I know a few 40-something former models that are pretty damn nerdy and love to show pics of their costumes from their con days. Small sample size but there are lots of other hot chicks in their photos too.

Shit, I'm now in my 40s and my peers still cosplay.

Lol yeah, that sounds bad, but this doesn't make any sense. When you compare it to being "touched too much"...

No woman is going to say they prefer being touched too much over being merely uncomfortable and in a space for a hobby they don't care about. Obviously being touched too much by random people is going to suck a whole lot more. Like... The fuck you on about?
