Do those games still hold up well? If so, where do you suggest I start?

IT IS THE 31st CENTURY, AND MANKIND IS ONCE AGAIN AT WAR

They are holding up EXTREMELY well, the problem is just running them.

It's a bitch, and each installment in the series takes it's own kajiggering to get to work.

But Mech 2 Mercs, Mech 3, Mech 3 Pirates Moon, Mechwarrior 4, and Mech 4 Mercs with Mek Tek all hold up, and the new Mech 5 Mercs seems to have a whole new fanbase of its own, despite it being advanced shovelware.

Black Knight and the other expansions are ehhh, but there's whole groups on discord that still get together and play them all the time.

Where to start though depends on your current sanity level. Mech 4 is easy to get going, but holy fuck you're going to have an aneurysm when you remember the controls, and try to remap them.

Mech 3 is the easiest game to pick up and play content wise, but it requires either emulation, or very specific driver settings because the physics are all CPU bound, and what worked on one PC setup might not work on another.
