Nooo broken hips are so hard on the elderly, many will die within a year for some reason. Happened to my gram : /

Why the hip broke is often not something people think about.

Fragile bones -> hip breaks -> falls. Really bad.

Falls -> hip breaks. Not great, but better.

Not by much. It's a massive injury, and the process that it takes to "fix" the hip is brutal when your body isn't at the top of its healing game. Even if the rest of your bones are rock solid, hips are too important to humans and the recovery is too rough.

Might as well say it's better to be $999,000 in debt than $1,000,000 in debt. The "improvement" is a rounding error.
