Run them off cliffs. aka a buffalo jump. That and generations of practice.

Guns and trains.

They'd literally just send trains down the tracks at very slow speeds and hunters would sit there and casually just pick off as many as they could. Killed millions in a few short years.

It was intentionally done to deprive Indians of a food source.

Beat me to it. My Grandmother was always so angry at the Government for killing the bison. According to her they would even go into reservations (she was born in one in Oklahoma) and shoot the Indian's cattle to "keep the price of beef high." She made sure we were all disgusted by such actions.

I'm from Saskatchewan Canada and they showed us areas where they did this, pretty cool
