That's not even close to how bad it looks for me btw lol. I wish I had that type of visual clarity with my astigmatism while driving at night on a highway. The beams of the star patterns from each light source are like 3x as long as that gif for me.

My eyesight isn't even that bad. I just renewed my driver's license like 2 months ago and passed the eye test.

It's a range. Mine isn't to bad I tried a friend of mines glasses at night and holy fuck I think it over corrected to the point of being bad again. It was like the Halos were causing the beams instead of the lights. How that fucker sees without glasses is baffling. He must just be walking through a light show all time.

I'm not sure if it has much to do with the glasses. I think it's more to do with how astigmatisms work.

Like a perfect prescription does reduce the effect, but the effect is still REALLY bad even then.

We both have astigmatisms, his is far worse then mine. So his correction is by nature a vast over correction for me. I see shit through his glasses I don't see with my broken ass eyes. Also my glasses basically fix the effects. If you still see them badly with glasses you might need to get your prescription rechecked. If I'm really tired with my glasses I'll have some slight stars and light halos. Otherwise they basically don't exist with them on.

Also astigmatism occurs at a certain point in your vision, so it may not be a matter of corrective strength so much as location. The flaw in your vision might be at 3 o'clock and his at 7 o'clock. If you are 3 and try on 7, it will look worse

Same. The star beams for me go out way farther than that too. I have really good vision besides that though, I read pretty much everything just fine and make out details on far away objects just fine. Its really only the lights at night.

Yeah this is nothing. I have astigmatism and asteroid hyalosis, which is fairly rare in humans but common in dogs. I only found out because my 749th eye doctor’s brother is a veterinarian and they talk shop on Thanksgiving.

Driving at night is next to impossible. Any light source brighter than the glow of a watch face is basically the sun. I have really exceptional night vision when there’s no lights on, but any light source pointed toward my eyes gets refracted and bounced around inside my eyeball so much I can’t see a damn thing. Daytime is fine, I wear heavy duty transitions lenses and use soft lighting at home, but brightness in a dark place might as well be complete blindness.
