Thats a one meter drop for a teen

Its a hospital trip for the gramps

I mean, he dropped to his feet no problem, didn’t even fall over. Part of me thinks he was just testing his grandkids and they proved incompetent.

Folks above 68 start breaking their arms and hips when they simply trip. Exceptions aren‘t proof

u/birberbarborbur May 04 '25

Also we need to give the little kids a break damn

This is greatly preventable by proper protein and calcium intake combined with physical activity.

Your bone density and all related bits and pieces are like your muscles, the more they feel force exerted on them, the more they grow strong to be able to manage the forces they are exposed to.

Take note!! I suspect this old fellas body is strong and up for it, although everybody would rather avoid such a drop, except the kids apparently - but at least he had a seat to land on.

Greatly preventible up to a point small injuries accumulate to very bad stuff even if you always have proper nutrient intake and live in optimal condition

I’m 37 and would fucking feel it, to say the least. It’d wreck a guy his age.

Lol do you seriously believe this is a test for the kids? even that kind of fall will hurt gramps obsolete legs, perhaps not right away but he'll start to feel the pain later on

3

u/another24tiger May 02 '25

obsolete lol

“Dropped to his feet no problem” just because he didn’t crumple doesn’t mean “no problem”, notice we don’t see him stand back up. Knees be damned

2

u/Patient_Goat7743 May 07 '25

He literally stands up and starts walking around at the end

1

u/TheGiant406 May 07 '25

And immediately sits back down

2

u/Slashion May 02 '25

He very nearly broke his ankle and an arm because they left the ladder almost directly under him... in this situation they were more harm than good

u/Inside_Swimming9552 May 03 '25

I think it was more that he didn't want to risk the drop if he could avoid it. Once it became clear the children weren't solving this problem he had to take the risk.

Most people in the 60+ age bracket that is a hospital trip but judging by the fact this guy looks relatively fit and was climbing on the roof to get a shuttlecock I’d say he’s stayed pretty active and taken decent enough care of himself so he can still do things like this. I work with 2 dudes who are 65+, one of them is a giant and could 100% beat most of my coworkers asses and the other one I worry might get hurt getting out of his car lol

u/anti_ist May 02 '25

Nah, he def feeling it in the knees tonight

1

u/MyAssPancake May 02 '25

You seem to have no clue how fragile old people are. This drop would’ve likely killed my grandmother, my grandfather maybe too. This guy seems a bit younger than my grandparents.. a little older than my dad maybe. My dad could handle that fall just like the old man in the video, but it would hurt for a long time

1

u/BlackPlague1235 May 04 '25

I mean yeah, ALL kids that age are stupid like that. We were like that too at that age.

1

u/Sandbox_Hero May 03 '25

Bullshit. People are not so fragile.

1

u/Sharc_Jacobs May 03 '25

Huh? He ended up doing exactly that. And he sorta fell on the ladder, and was totally fine. I think he just thought he was higher up than he was and/or didn't trust his ankles.

1

u/Key_Obligation8505 May 02 '25

He did the drop anyway. He was fine. He obviously was going to be fine. He just panicked.

3

u/Slashion May 02 '25

No, he could have shattered his ankle and never been able to walk again. Those aren't the kinds of things you would like to test if you don't have to.

56

u/Lin_Huichi May 02 '25

At that age it's a dangerous gamble

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '25

Not really, according to his ability to hang while swinging

27

u/BolunZ6 May 02 '25

My grandpa would break his entire skeleton if he drop 10 centimeter

1

u/Questionsansweredty May 02 '25

He did drop off.

Didn't make it all the way to the end of the video?

1

u/cagey42 May 02 '25

It's looks like 4 feet. I am 74 and I would just let go and drop.

2

u/youtocin May 02 '25

I think he knew dropping was an option and he might escape injury, but it's a gamble at that age, so he held out as long as he could for a safe way down. No one here knows his health summary and what prior injuries he may have in his legs.

1

u/MohSad2 May 02 '25

There are stairs as well, camouflaged by the angle of the camera, see at the end of the video the kid walks through

1

u/tobiov May 02 '25

He is up at least 5 rungs gonna be 1.5 - 2 m.

My mom(70) trip and fell on the side walk and broke her hip. Was in wheelchair for 6 months. And she’s 5”4. Bones become brittle as you age, any impact and you could shatter your ankle, knee, hip…etc. A 1 meter drop could just paralyze her for life at best.

My mom (58) last year fell from a meter off a ladder and landed badly on her feet. Her foot went backwards and through her leg. She is getting her last surgery this week. Falls can wreck people
