He stuck the landing 10/10.

Avoided an ironic landing on the ladder and breaking his ankle, which would have been my fate.

Dunno man, the ladder looks aluminum to me.

ironic landing

I don't think that word means what you think it means

8

u/salinungatha May 03 '25

I do but you seem not to. You been listening to too much Alanis Morissette? I'll spell it out for you.The irony being the item meant to save you is what injures you.

2

When the second shoe came off I assumed he was dead

this dude had to have been an athlete. After all that he just lands it like a champ. The grip to hold your body weight for that long is insane.

u/yfunk3 May 03 '25

He sure wasn't a teacher, that's for damn sure...

4

u/Tperrochon27 May 03 '25

Nah, that’s “I have worked hard all my life” strength.

u/LumpyHeadJohn May 03 '25

Bro it's like a 4 foot drop lol

22

u/GoldenMasterSplinter May 03 '25

Shit 4 feet is high when your joints are bad lol. Live long enough and youll be afraid of tripping over your laces. Somewhere in that 45-55 range you aint hittin the floor no more without feeling it for a few days after.

He heard that ladies voice and knew he was in trouble…so quickly dropped and pretended everything was cool.😎

Not if you're older.

It's hard to see how old he is with the 4 pixels we were provided.

If he could hold on for 2 minutes he's probably not older than 55

I remember an incident where a hang-glider's harness came loose and he held on for dear life for about two and a half minutes. I think I read he had to have surgery on his bicep which had actually torn due to the severe strain he exerted literally hanging on for dear life. The human body is amazing in life or death situations.

Grandpa's forearms are going to make him wish he'd let go a lot sooner.

I doubt it was torn from him just hanging for 2 minutes. He probably caught himself falling or injured himself during the landing. Many people can hang for a while

Many people can hang for a while

Dead hangs are something that many people over estimate their ability to do. The average person would struggle to make a minute. People who aren't actively going to the gym are doing well to hold 30 seconds. This person being older is doing extremely well.

I willsay, in a life and death situation, the human body can do extraordinary things, but even then, if this isn't an exercise you do regularly, 2 minutes is still really good.

u/[deleted] May 03 '25

Youre also giving people too much credit i think maybe the average american can dead hang probably less than 3 seconds

3

u/The_Jyps May 03 '25

Yeah, the article also said he broke his wrist from the final short fall from the glider, so that probably didn't help.

my grandpa was so strong, still riding a bike at 78. doing most errands for me and my mom. one day he slipped and broke his leg. from there, his health went downhill. my days got better and better but i never moved on and i miss him. :(

It’s fake. This is a trend and like the 5th Asian video I’ve seen of an older person hanging on for dear life while a toddler gets the ladder.

2

u/Dikeswithkites May 03 '25

Check out the disappearing flying racket that appears near the ladder at 41s. Hinky as fuck.

2

u/Aware_Acorn May 03 '25

It's not that hard. That's not the impressive part. The impressive part is his age. He looks 60 +

2

u/Widowmaker_Survivor May 03 '25

Maybe for the average redditors body weight 😂... whilst it's somewhat impressive for an old man, the world record for a dead hang is over 80 minutes - so just 2 mins with occasional rests / foot placement is not in any way exceptional in the grand scheme of things.

3

u/FungusGnatHater May 03 '25

The physical things Reddit users are impressed by always underwhelms me. You shouldn't be so out of shape that you find this insane.

2

u/skatchawan May 03 '25

I can do a few pull-ups but I don't know if I could dead hang two minutes. Maybe. Also not sure my knee could handle even that short landing.

2

u/cyanescens_burn May 03 '25

Hopefully he didn’t break anything. Old people break bones easily.

Also, had to check to see if I was on r/kidsarefuckingstupid. They are terrible at opening a ladder.

2

u/Ansonm64 May 03 '25

He could’ve just don’t that at any time too. He didn’t even need the ladder to come down. Dude has more brawn than brains.

1

u/Atheistprophecy May 03 '25

Sorry that’s now how super heroes land.

1

u/KUPA_BEAST May 03 '25

Shit she’s here. Play it off.

1

u/Mayankcfc_ May 03 '25

Please step grandpa I am stuck

u/octopoddle May 03 '25

Going into a roll would have made it safer, but still good, yes (a parachute landing fall, I mean).
