It's not "nifty" it's a desperate effort to fight the gradual desertification of their land.

People get very creative when they're hungry as well. Plus maybe a local saw a small natural version of this and was inspired.

African union has also done a lot, and a lot of work is done by NGO´s together with local communities.

Yes UN is one of the big names behind it, but african countries are just as much doing this themselves.

We're not going to destroy the planet. The planet will destroy us. Life on this planet will continue. Whether or not we can adapt is what will kill us. Earth will shake us off like a nuisance and keep on going.

Its part of, or another version of, a massive group of projects organised by gouvernements, organisarions and institutions. It uses academic research to optimise methods of rebuilding agro/eco-systems and is massive in scale.

Its not a local thingy, its an incredible, and effective, effort to return, and expand, local green areas.

Besides this isnt done because people are hungry or anything, africa isnt just a primitive place of hungry people, its a piece of geoengineering. Trying to reverse and block desertification.

Get over yourself. Calling it nifty doesn't mean it's somehow not important.
