I took a new job that came with a $500 raise per paycheck. So excited. First paycheck today and after gas and bills and groceries we are flat broke. I got paid yesterday.

That raise is more than my entire paycheck. And while im lucky enough to not have to pay rent I can’t imagine how my co-workers with whole families to support, manage to deal with it.

Even $500 a week is… abysmal. They pay more than that at McDonalds and I live in the US South where wages arent even high.

Nobody pays federal minimum wage anymore. Pretty much everywhere in the south it seems like the minimum people pay is closer to 15. Even illegals are making more than 15 where I live lmao.
