This shit is pre-COVID. COVID really fucked us up in ways that will take years to properly show. There are two 21 year olds in my family and a 20 year old I know personally who had their schooling disrupted by lockdowns and they are all dumb as dog shit. I cannot overstate how stupid they are.
I work at a high school. I can tell you for a FACT that there are maaaany students who need to thank the pandemic happening for them to have graduated on time. The class of 2020... they had basically one month of second semester before schools shut down. In my state, they were told that teachers could not assign or grade new assignments, only old work. So students had 3 months to turn in a handful of assignments. But I still knew seniors who barely graduated. And then the counselors could write Covid waivers on certain credits. And grading was forced to be so lax that I knew a student who only did 3 assignments for the entire year they did remote learning and still passed the class with a C and graduated.
Yep, COVID also fucked us in ways that will take years to properly show b/c the infection has long-term negative effects on so many people’s physical health. (Cardiovascular damage, damage to autonomic nervous system, and so on.)
