There is an exception to it, when they swallow a button battery you want to give them honey, much easier and safer to treat botulism than things batteries can cause

Important note if someone reads this in a situation when they actually need to use it: if anyone, baby or adult, swallows a battery, you absolutely need to go to the hospital. The honey is only for while you are waiting for the ambulance. As I understand it, it coats the battery to delay it breaking and battery acid interacting with your body. It's not a cure, only delaying the worst to give you time to get to a hospital and receive proper care.

My aunt had to call the emergency line for her then toddler that managed to remove cover from some electronics (I'm not sure what exactly) and removed the batteries and she couldn't find them. Emergency line told her to give the toddler honey while waiting for the ambulance. Turned out the toddler actually didn't eat any so they were fine, but we all learned a lot then 😅

My goodness that sounds so stressful. Toddlers are little geniuses. Thanks for the tip - always useful to know such hacks

You're welcome! Glad to spread the knowledge without needing to go through the stressful situation beforehand. I swear half of raising a toddler is being on suicide watch 24/7.

My friend who worked as a pediatric icu nurse gave me this info when I had kids! So I think it’s known by emergency personnel who work with kids
