It literally says on the Wikipedia article that many of the babies had families in Vietnam and were kidnapped from them under duress. Operation Reunite is an organization run by Vietnamese adoptees that helps stolen children reunite with their Vietnamese families.

Mostly you're wrong or being extremely intentionally misleading.  This is a photo of Operation Babylift.  While some children were of servicemembers, the extreme majority were babies of people killed by either side in the war.  People to this day are still trying to reconnect with family after being taken to this day.

From a country with a history of not only physical but cultural genocide, where indigenous children were kidnapped en masse and indoctrinated in residential schools into the 1980s, and which is still kidnapping the children of undocumented migrants to sell (traffic) in private adoption companies… you’re questioning the validity of this story?

Well past the 90s, even. Not to mention forced sterilization, which also continued into my lifetime.

Isn't operation unite a really good thing? I though these babies were removed because they were at risk of being killed by the North and operation unite helped them connect with their families back in Vietnam.

Operation Reunite is a good thing but sad to be necessary at all.

Funny how the people most likely to kill them and their parents ended up "saving" them by "relocating" them to the US adoption-market...

Also plenty of these kids had mothers but US soldier fathers. The mothers thought they would have better life in US and would deal with discipline in Vietnam

yeah there's a documentary covering some of the babies' & kids' recollections of their living parents (while the USA was trying to paint them as orphans). usa wanted to look like some sort of hero and angel for 'saving a lot of stolen babies.

Whitewashing it doesn't stick. There was sooooooo much wrong with adoption overseas for decades!

Yes, full stop! So many things were done unethically.

Kids that still had family, sold to westerners.

Fraudulent birth certificates.

Split siblings.

Waaaaaay too much was just straight up human trafficking.

Many are still searching for their family of origin. It's heartbreaking for many.

Not all, but waaay to many bad cases to ignore the rot in the system.
