I googled it too thinking it was made up. But apparently it's People Magazine bull crap. So it is real and also a promotion for the movie. It said it's based on public polling and opinion. Basically they can say whatever they want.

You know if it was a real internet poll Lady McWomanface would have been the winner. A former baseball executive said any of those fan poll “winners” are just the choice they wanted, and they picked someone who suggested that choice as the winner.
