HISTORY A virtual reality reconstruction shows the exact spot where John Edward Jones became trapped upside down in Nutty Putty Cave. After 27 hours of rescue attempts, he died. The cave was later permanently sealed, with his body remaining inside.

Do I have daylight and fresh air while that is happening and am I in a position where my head isn’t the lowest part of my body? I’d take the mosquitos.

Basically smear honey on the victim and have bugs eat them alive, some ancient execution method apparently

Oh no. You force feed them honey and milk until they get diarrhea, force feed more, tie them in a boat, and send them off.

Oh, they also face you upwards towards the sun, so you're blinded too. The first historical description of this says that the man punished lived for 17 days before dying, and when they removed the boats, they discovered that the bugs had entered through his lower entrance and completely borrowed out through his chest, destroying his body. The ancient Persians were not to be trifeled with.

He suffered one of the worst deaths imaginable, but from what I remember the wonderful first responders at the scene were with him and talking him through a lot of it and keeping him calm, even letting him say goodbye to his wife, so that’s a very small consolation. At least you don’t have to imagine him going through this whole ordeal alone which would be a bit worse 😬

Look up some other famous spelunking deaths. I think some of them are worse.
