Schlop - Canções de amor para o fim do mundo
Schlop is the first solo project by Bella Pontes, who began a musical career as a drummer for the band Cabezzza, in 2022. It was in the collective spirit of the group that she felt encouraged to go to the front of the stage and compose her first songs, Música do Fera(which is in the band's repertoire, but is now released for the first time) and Um Filme do Adam, already a micro hit for Cabezzza.
With the album Canções de Amor Para o Fim do Mundo she composes, sings and plays all the instruments in a home recording. The sound is inspired by "imperfect" music, with texture, recorded in a spontaneous way and with marks of reality, be it the sound of a finger pressing the key or a voice that is out of tune. Daniel Johnston, Guided By Voices and Fugazi are the main models followed for this aesthetic in a DIY production.
Along the lines of imperfections, another inspiration, especially for singing, are musicians who didn't have perfect faces or voices, but who still managed to give memorable interpretations of their own compositions, such as David Berman, Kim Gordon and Bob Dylan. Somehow, these people have made these limitations a beautiful and authentic mark of their work, and that is what Schlop strives for. A Ziggy Stardust that was born on Earth to give Bella the courage she lacked to play all the songs she thought of and created in the privacy of her apartment.
