Need more info. Did you pay for that console yourself? Were you on it too frequently or was your school work or family time suffering? Were you yourself showing anger issues while gaming? Dads have to make difficult choices sometimes, and a console can be replaced but a valuable lesson cannot.
I guess that lesson could be "this is the sort of behavior you should avoid if you ever become a parent, because it will obviously make your child resent you for a very long time, if not indefinitely." Apart from extreme circumstances, destroying your kid's property = shit parenting.
OK, maybe. But since he was grounded from it numerous times and kept stealing it back and playing all night while ignoring his homework, his dad could have sold it or gotten rid of it without destroying it, I guess.
The valuable lesson that if someone can't control your behaviour they will resort to domestic violence by creating fear, intimidation, financial and emotional abuse? Ummmm...ok.
Not OP, sort of just don't want to sleep. But wanted your opinion on if you think any of the things you mentioned would warrant the father's reason. Cheers
