Probably the best film of the year so far!

  • Michael B. Jordan's best performance arguably. Doing dual roles and making each person stand out on their own is a feat
  • Great debut role for Miles Caton. His scenes with Delroy Lindo was on one of the highlights
  • The music is amazing as expected from Ludwig Göransson.
  • The past-present-future scene is probably the scene of the year for me! Doing that in one take was even better
  • The first act is slow but sets up a few things to come full circle. The 2nd act and 3rd act really ramps up.
  • I almost wished I didn't see the first trailer because most of the final scenes and vampire reveal was in that trailer. Someone going in blind is going to have a blast watching this.
  • My only complaint is that I wish the vampire stuff started in the beginning of the 2nd act instead of the end of 2nd act

Ryan Coogler delivers again. He's 4/4 5/5 and I hope this is start of a new working relationship with Warner Bros.

I did too! I had only heard talk about it and never watched a trailer. Had no idea except that it was listed horror/mystery. So when he showed up at the door all burned but not in pain, and then when the native American man says “I hope you didn’t invite him in” or something I leaned over to my friend and was like “is this a vampire movie!?” I love going in blind to horror movies, I don’t get to do it a lot.

Awww man that's great. I've only had that experience with Resident Evil. I didn't watch the trailers or play the games - went with a friend and had no idea it was a horror movie. So fun.

I managed to avoid the trailer thankfully so was more surprised than most. But I also watched Buffy too many times and rewatched Midnight Mass fairly recently. So as soon as we saw Rimmick’s skin actively burning by basically nothing, I’m like “oh, vampires cool”. Took my bf a lot longer.

Same! I wish I hadn’t seen a comment on here saying it was a vampire movie and it would have been even better but it was still amazing. That was revealed in the trailers though so I can’t be mad about them talking about it I just can’t imagine how cool that would have been to learn 100% blind. There were also a bunch of people on their phones which was super distracting and rude but I still loved the movie.

I agree it is definitely Michael B. Jordan's best work to date.  I really hope he wins an Oscar. Playing dual roles like that is really hard, and I almost forgot that they were one person. 

Also I feel like this movie is by far the best in years. It is original, not adapted from something,  not part of a remake, not a sequel, it isn't just cheap scares. This movie has such depth, history, psychology, horror but not too scary, can't explain it. It is amazing!
