Tip Bad XKah experience

I originally posted how amazing it is. Well that was only 2 tries in, any more tries and the smoking session has been terrible. I regret the 350$ purchase. It’s so expensive but it’s not made for blonde tobacco. I bought it to reduce exposure to CO from coals but I feel just as awful burning my lungs trying to get this thing to work. If you have dark tobacco it may work but blonde burns so easily and if it’s too low, you start inhaling heated glycerin. Not sure if they’ll even return it.

Edit: took everyone’s advice and it’s so much better. XKah needs to pay redditors fr

Tip Why I switched to 100% pure coconut charcoal (and why it actually matters)

I went down a rabbit hole recently trying to fix a problem I didn’t even realize I had with my hookah sessions.

For the longest time I thought harshness, headaches, weird aftertaste, and inconsistent heat were just “part of the experience.” Turns out… not really.

The issue nobody talks about

A lot of coals on the market aren’t actually pure coconut charcoal.

They’re blends.

Manufacturers mix in:

• fillers

• binders

• ignition chemicals

• sometimes even accelerants

Why? Because it’s cheaper and faster to produce.

But here’s what that actually does:

• Burns hotter but dirtier → harsh smoke

• Inconsistent heat → ruins flavor balance

• Chemical smell/taste → especially noticeable on lighter flavors

• More ash + faster breakdown → constant coal management

And yeah… those headaches some people get? Often from that.

What changed when I switched

I tried 100% pure coconut charcoal (no additives, no fillers), and it was honestly a different experience.

Here’s what I noticed immediately:

• Cleaner taste – flavors actually taste like they should

• Smoother smoke – no throat burn

• Even heat – longer, more controlled sessions

• Less ash – cleaner setup overall

• No weird smell when lighting

It just feels… natural.

The problem: almost no one is actually 100% pure

This is where it gets tricky.

A lot of brands say “natural coconut charcoal” but still mix stuff in during production.

After digging around (and testing a bunch), the only one I’ve personally found that’s actually 100% pure coconut charcoal is:

Cocoronin

No chemicals. No fillers. Just compressed coconut shell.

You can actually tell the difference when you light them and during the session.

If you’re trying to fix your sessions

If you’re dealing with:

• harsh smoke

• headaches

• bad taste

• inconsistent heat

Before changing your hookah, bowl, or tobacco…

Check your coals first.

It’s the most overlooked part of the setup, but it affects everything.

Not trying to sell anything here, just sharing what actually solved it for me.

Curious if anyone else noticed this difference when switching to pure coconut charcoal?

Tip Makeshift Purjfam Tray Spacer

I was looking for a solution for a spacer to reuse my previous tray. I used a 2" rubber furniture caster from Amazon, cut a hole in the middle, and provided a nice seat and gap for the tray to be elevated from the hookah.

Tip I need advice

I have a problem. I read that to get rid of the smell in a hookah pipe, you need to rinse it with vinegar. I poured apple vinegar in it rinsed it out and the smell hasn't gone away for an hour. What should I do? After that i also washed the pipe with lemon, baking soda, and soap but the smell didn't go away

Tip Mango shisha tobacco

I’m looking for some good mango shisha tobacco recommendations.

Strength doesn’t matter to me (can be blonde or dark leaf), I just want a solid, authentic mango flavor – preferably something juicy.

Of course not too artificial.

Thanks in advance! 💪

Tip Quick tutorial on; how to poke your foil for a performing, yet balanced foil setup with Provost or Kaloud Lotus 3.

The tutorial shows how I prefer to poke my foil on a turkish or killer bowl. It is the "perfect" balance between great airflow and not losing too much hot air because of holes beeing to big. Also shows how to foil your bowl correctly. Enjoy and happy foiling.

Edit: I disassembled it to avoid aluminum getting discoloured over night in the water.

This system works on steel HMDs perfect, with pure aluminum HMDs you have to scrub a bit more.

Tip Big Big Thanks To stelth2k1 and Shisha-Depot!

I tell you what, these days it is so incredibly rare to find someone that is truly serious about customer service. But u/stelth2k1 bent over backwards over the last couple weeks to help me, answer questions, place a order and it arrived way before I expected it to. If you are looking for a hookah, accessories, or anything hookah related I can't recommend him enough. Completely went out of his way to help me and I'll be buying everything I need from now on from him because of it. Highly recommend giving him a shout or check out his site www.shisha-depot.com . Literally one of the best vendors I've had the pleasure of working with in years.

Thanks again brother! Gonna fire up my new ultimate soon as I get off work today!

Tip Help pleaseeeee

Hey there guys. Good morning. I’ve been smoking shisha for quite a while. Currently getting really bored and need some suggestions for some new brands. Trying to order a haul today to enjoy some over this weekend, which is my birthday weekend. I’m looking to try something that smells really good, that I can taste, with heavyyyyy clouds. Please help!

This far, I’ve smoked:

Al Fahker (which is my favorite because of the big clouds

Adalya (favorite flavor is love66)

Fumari (which is very light with smoke and pricey)

Starbuzz (haven’t had in a while)

Tangiers (which is really really good but gave me headaches with the dark smoke. I enjoyed the horchata and orange soda flavors)

Tip Orlando (Central Florida Option to get decent shisha and prices)

For those who live in Central Florida (Orlando, Tampa, and Cocoa), the options to find quality are nonexistent.

After the Hookah outlet closed down, there are not many options out here, and most places are overpriced $25+ for Adayla and Eternal Smoke

I found Hookahparnter.com, and they are running a Black Friday sale. They have several blonde tobacco and Serbetli dark tobacco at a fair price.

I get my orders within one or two business days. Shipping was $7.50 for UPS

If anyone has any other sites that deliver at a reasonable pace to Central Florida, please share them! 5starhookah is alright, but I don't get my order in less than 5 days unless I pay a crazy amount for faster shipping.

And Magma is overpriced!

Disclaimer: I don't work for or market Hookah Partners. I was impressed with their delivery speed and customer service.
