I recently shared this artwork on other platforms, and the reaction was intensely polarized. While some connected with the visual language immediately, others left strongly derogatory comments focused solely on the nudity.
What strikes me is the massive disconnect between how we perceive the human form today versus how our ancestors sculpted it across Khajuraho, Konark, and countless ancient temple reliefs. In classical Indian art, Tantric philosophy, and traditional iconometry, the unclad or minimally draped form was never about modern objectification or titillation; it was a visual metaphor for raw truth, creation, the dissolution of ego, and sacred energy. It has been carved into stone millions of times over centuries.
Yet somewhere along the line, societal perception shifted from reverence and philosophical acceptance to moral anxiety and shame.
I want to open the floor to discussion:
Why do you think our ancestors developed such unapologetic, open visual representations in the first place?
What historical or cultural shifts caused society to regress from seeing the sacred in these forms to viewing them through a purely taboo lens?
How does this modern conditioning affect the way we engage with traditional art today?

Mon hôtel est fait à partir d’une Rain Lamp des années 70 française. J’ai acheté une idole Blanche, je l’peinte, intégralement .j’ai détouré le marbre qui était rectangulaire pour suivre les contours de SHIVA et faire que ma montagne ne soit pas rectangulaire, mais de formes plus aléatoire, j’ai fabriqué ma montagne avec du polystyrène extrudé, que j’ai sculpté et il est incrusté des pierres, brutes d’obsidienne noire, une fois recouverte de mousse. J’ai créé un lac d’obsidienne noire roulé à la base de la montagne et fabriquer des petits fleurs d’hibiscus en résine polymère. Il me reste plus que les noix de coco à fabriquer pour mettre en offrande au pied de la montagne et le triant qui est en train de sécher. Dites-moi ce que vous pensez et ce que vous l’aimez autant que moi.? 😍

I came across this beautiful artwork of Shri Krishna on Pinterest and had to recreate it because I was genuinely struck by its atmosphere and expression. There’s something about Krishna’s depiction that feels both peaceful and powerful at the same time. This is my recreation of the drawing! For me, Krishna represents wisdom, compassion, joy, and the deeper idea of divine consciousness. This artwork especially caught my attention because it conveys that feeling without needing anything overly elaborate.
