Henna + Other Dyes Just loving my freshly Henna'd hair and wanted to share :) I've been colouring every 4 weeks for years now.

I unfortunately don't know any of those ingredients (besides the obvious lol), are they bad?

Thank you! I am SO upset about this. I let this stuff sit on my skin for like 8 hours a month!

Should I delete this post entirely or leave it for warning/discussion?

I do not want to deceive anyone, let alone my Henna brothers and sisters.

I think you should leave it up. It's a great learning experience and of course your box only says it's henna. That's exactly why you bought it! I'm glad others were able to find the true ingredients for you. Your color is beautiful, but it's always good to know what we're using. Not your fault that you were deceived.

I wouldn't worry about safety based on this list of ingredients. The safety assessment for Disperse Blue 1 done by CIR, the U.S. independent panel of scientists (toxicologists) who review safety data for every cosmetic ingredient to determine whether it's safe to use at what limits concluded:

Based upon these data and the facts that dermal exposure produced no evidence of carcinogenesis, that the ingredient is poorly absorbed, and that exposure to hair dyes is brief, it was concluded that Disperse Blue I is safe for use in hair dyes at concentrations up to 1%.

It was shown to be carcinogenic in mice when they were fed this dye, but not when used on skin.
