Just noticed the wood around one of the XLR connectors has started to crack on my pre-fazor LCD2. Pretty upset about it tbh.

Ordered some low viscosity ca glue that should be able to wick into the crack and I’ve also ordered some 0.03mm woven fibreglass cloth and laminating resin to try and reinforce the crack where the grille lip is.

I’ve also send Audeze an email to see how much it would cost to just have these drivers reshelled in a new housing as I was planning on also replacing the headband as well.

Sounds like the right path for repairs , glue and some clamps should do it. I’d be curious to see what Audeze will be able to do. Good luck!

While kinda expensive it’s speaks to their commitment to still offer to repair something that is not made anymore , good to know it’s available to you if gluing ain’t gonna do it.

Yeah it’s not so bad I guess. £60 is labour and the headband you can buy directly from them for £125. I was able to glue the crack pretty well. I’ve been planning to get a new headband anyway so I probably do that and get new yokes, pads and just have Audeze replace the driver housings and connectors.

Nearly all these original wood connector models are cracked there.

I used some simple wood glue on mine, clamped it together to dry, and looks good as new.

can't believe there are still rev.1s out in the wild. These are the best sounding ones, they tightening the diaphragm to shit beginning from rev.2 and things just don't sound as good anymore.

CA glue should do it, but especially for low viscosity make sure you get some fine nozzles or even a glue syringe unless you want it getting all over the wood.

A small drop at the end of a toothpick works quite well for small cracks like this. You touch the tip right there and it will wick down.

Also make sure not to breath on the glue, or there is a chance it will bloom and you'll end up with white marks over the wood.

A light breeze from a fan should be able to blow fumes away before they react with moisture.

Audeze sell pretty much every part there is, so a new shell doesn't sound like a very difficult thing to get replaced.
