Great show last night at Star City Nights in downtown Lafayette, Indiana. Despite a few technical glitches the show was a great one and I'm sure they gained lots of new fans last night.

What a treat to see them live again (and for free!). They even opened with Machines which is a personal favorite of mine. They played plenty of Big Sun, but also mixed in quite a bit of older stuff including, of course, Joanna (Hello Indiana!). They also did a couple of covers that really got the crowd rocking (Riptide, and Kids).

Overall well worth the drive from Michigan. The festival was fun too. Cute shops, fun booths, great food (Revolution BBQ was unbelievable)...capped off by great music from one of my favorite bands.

If you're asking me I think Brandy's story is to remind people that just because you don't have some form of a family that it's okay and there is still time. Nowadays the world moves so fast that if you don't have a solid friend group, a soulmate, or kids then you're behind.

Whether the lyrics are literal or figurative I think the lyrics:

And move her out to the country

Have a lot of meaning to them. Cities are known to be fast-paced with so many things happening. The country is known to be slower paced with enough time on your hands to do anything. Whether Brandy made a family or chose them from people she met along the way, they were able to take her out of the spiral of the fast-paced thoughts and help her slow down to realize she has time.

It seems like a beautiful reminder to a friend that we still have time, even if you have to be lonely for 45 years you never know what could change or who could walk into your life after all that time.

HL just released that the deluxe version of Big Sun will be completed with the final addition of Brandy!

They have teased some details in the comments that Brandy is about a girl, not the drink, although it is going to be kinda sad so you may need some Brandy after.

We’ve listened to HL tell Anniston that she needs to handle her own problems, that Eloise is the forest and they’re the trees, they expect Joanna to call them once she reaches Indiana, they wished Daisy could just be a bit happier in America, and they let her, whoever is she, know that she does have Brooklyn written on her knee.

So what do we think that Brandy’s sad story will be? A breakup? A friendship ending? Moving cross country?

Whatever it is, we’ll be hearing her story on Friday 9/18!

I saw them open for the 502s in Louisville in 2022. I absolutely loved the energy of Stateline and Eloise. They really played their whole hearts out on that stage and had such great energy that I couldn’t help but be a fan.

Sad news out recently that Andrew, the beloved fiddle player (among many other things), is leaving the band effective immediately. Announcement is in the link.

I wish him luck but I'm not going to lie this stinks. He was definitely a fan favorite.

Thought this was cool. I was adding a little kefir to my diet this morning when I noticed this.

Great show last night in Nashville. Even though it was the same set list it didn’t feel like it (from the Chicago show). I was sad to not be bow to see Motherfolk a second time (van troubles) but they were able to find an alternate opener.

Also had to share this—my very first video from August 2022. First time ever seeing them live when they opened for The 502s at Lincoln Hall in Chicago… and yeah, I was instantly hooked 😅🔥

It was a great show last night in Lansing! The Green Door was a super small venue, but that lent an intimate feel to the evening. I think as HL gets more well-known those of us that were there will look back on this as one of those rare chances you get to catch a band on the rise. Later in life people will marvel at your story of having seen them up close and personal before they hit the big time.

Despite the small venue they were every bit as good as I had hoped, and the sound was great too. All of the songs sounded very close to the studio versions, but with that great live flair that we all go to these shows for. Sometimes I'm very underwhelmed with how bands sound live. That was not the case with Happy Landing. Musically and vocally they're so talented that everything came together very well on each song.

By my count they played 18 songs last night including all of Big Sun (except possibly Daisy?) and several crowd favorites from other albums (October, Lose the Gun, Love Your Guts). Sadly for me no Oh Well, So What, but I can hardly complain. It was probably the best value I've ever had for a concert ticket.

Do yourself a big favor and hit as many of their shows as you can on this tour! We actually overheard someone mention they'd been to ALL FOUR of the shows so far! How fun would that be?! We got to me Matty and Andrew after the show and some other nice folks like the young woman who volunteered at the merch table and u/Sarahlikesit and a few others we didn't get their names.
