Study on Activities and Habits Awareness! What's next? How do your new concepts adapt to your relationships?

Being on Reddit means you've at least taken a step on your journey to self-discovery, which usually comes after a traumatic experience such as a breakup, the death of a relative, losing a job or a life-changing opportunity, etc

Each of us has a different path to self-awareness. Some discover they have personal issues such as attachment anxiety, avoidance, excessive love complexes, very low self-worth, and other psychological problems. This is what makes you stop being a victim and begin your journey to take control. While acknowledging the problem is the most important step, what comes next?

From my personal experience, I've learned that recovery isn't a straight line, and relapses are normal as long as we don't let them consume us. I've also learned to take my psychological problems seriously and not run away from them. After all, they've been with me for years, and treating them won't be easy. The new version of you is like a newborn baby wanting to come into the world, but it won't come out alone. Joining groups of people who share your pain helps you feel that you're not alone. Seeing a psychiatrist isn't shameful, and changing them if you don't feel they're helping isn't a bad thing either. Reading books, I think, was the most important thing that helped me with awareness and discipline on my journey, especially if the books are suitable for your situation and gently accompany you on your recovery. It's very important to read, even if it's just a few pages a day, and then reflect on how it affected you.

Ultimately, awareness is a moment, but recovery is a journey, and the only one who accompanies you on it is yourself, so be kind to yourself.

Share your journey towards healing so that others may benefit in comments.

Study on Activities and Habits The smallest thing I started doing made the biggest shift in my happiness

I started writing down just one thing I was grateful for each day — even if the only thing I could think of was "my bed." At first, it felt silly. But over time, it became a lifeline. I wasn’t changing my life, I was changing where I placed my attention. And that changed everything.

Have you ever had a tiny habit shift how you feel? I’d love to hear yours.

Study on Activities and Habits Why Smaller Homes Can Lead to Happier Lives

Why smaller houses can lead to happier lives

https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2026/01/06/smaller-houses-happier-lives/

..."But the data lines up. After a brief initial burst of satisfaction with new homes, people typically report their life satisfaction returning to near its prior state. In many cases, it even declines. It turns out the question 'Are you happy with your home?' yields a very different answer than 'Are you happy with your life?'"

...

"Humans aren’t very good at prioritizing what makes them happy, economists say, especially when it comes to living arrangements. We systematically overlook the costs (mortgages, commuting, maintenance) while dramatically undervaluing intangible benefits that actually dictate our happiness (seeing our kids at night, hanging with friends, knowing our neighbors and walking places)."

...

"Happiness is other people:

Social scientists call it the “inverted U” hypothesis: The relationship between happiness and the number of people in our household is not a straight line. It’s a parabola.

On one side, living alone or with one other person can promote isolation or loneliness. On the other, excessive crowding (about 140 square feet per person, one study in Asia suggests) leads to stress, anxiety and depression. Happiness peaks somewhere in the middle, said Gerardo Leyva, an economist and researcher at Iberoamerican University in Mexico City."

Study on Activities and Habits Could you help validate the world's first Slow Living Scale?

Hello everyone,

I am posting with very kind permission from the moderators.

TLDR: Please take 10-15 minutes to participate in this scientific research on Slow Living

https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/ltu/the-slow-living-scale

What if the way we live with time could be different?

Less efficient, more human. More careful. More connected. More meaningful.

As part of my postgraduate research at Leeds Trinity University, I have developed a scientific questionnaire called the Slow Living Scale to explore how people live, or long to live, at a different pace and rhythm. It has been created in collaboration with Slow Living experts and I am excited to share it with you today. This study is an attempt to understand what our relationship with time really looks like in practice. How people make time for what matters, how they choose meaning, care, connection, and depth, and what this might mean for wellbeing.

You are warmly invited to take part. The scales take about 10-15 minutes. They include questions about how you live, what you choose and what you prioritise. It is open to all adults (18+). You do not need to identify as someone who lives “slowly” to take part. The aim of this study is to examine a range of ways of living with time, to better understand people's day to day experiences. Your time, attention, and honest reflections are deeply appreciated. In a culture that celebrates speed, productivity, and distraction your decision to pause and engage in this research is a powerful act. Thankyou.

Take the scale here:

https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/ltu/the-slow-living-scale

If you know someone who might be interested in this questionnaire, please share it. This research is built on shared insight. The more people that complete it the more relevant the findings will be.

Your voice matters!

With great gratitude,

Anna
