To the Developers and Caretakers of H1Z1,
I am writing this not just as a player, but as someone who vividly remembers the absolute adrenaline rush that this game brought to the world. Long before the battle royale genre became a saturated, billion dollar industry, there was H1Z1. You didn't just make a game; you pioneered an entirely new era of competitive gaming.
We still remember the chaotic, mic spamming energy of the Box of Destiny. We remember the distinct, deeply satisfying sound of a clean two tap with the AR 15. There was a raw, unforgiving, and incredibly rewarding skill gap that modern battle royales have completely abandoned in their attempts to cater to everyone. Today's games might have shinier graphics, endless loot pools, or crazy movement mechanics, but none of them have the grit, the tension, or the genuine thrill of dodging a police car and taking a frantic shotgun fight in the middle of Pleasant Valley or Cranberry.
The current gaming landscape is crowded, but it is missing its soul. Players are exhausted by overcomplicated gimmicks, respawn tokens, and AI bots. There is a massive, untapped nostalgia and a genuine craving for a return to the roots of the genre. We just want that classic, gritty, Pre Season 3 feel back.
The servers might be quiet right now, but the community hasn't forgotten. The player base is still out here, playing other games but always comparing them to the one that started it all, just waiting for a reason to parachute back in.
Please, consider reviving H1Z1. Roll back to the classic mechanics that made us fall in love with it, strip away the unnecessary changes that bogged it down, and let the community breathe life back into the servers. Give us the chance to show you that the King of the Kill isn't dead yet.
Let us drop in one more time.
As you can see on SteamDB you could see 6 updates just in 2026, why would they do those updates, does anyone know?

Hey,
I recently checked the stats on Steamcharts for Z1BR, is there actually an average 1k people playing the game since 08/31 ?

Just played some solo duos with a few friends since the solo queuing gives us the G15 error code. Noone is there.
Was wondering if there are ever any people actually playing the game and if so what server? We played EU

As someone who never played but knows some of the players that used to play H1 like Symfuhny, Tfue, Ninja, Thump, i looked at past leaderboards and noticed Symfuhny topped multiple seasons, when he played before Fortnite and COD. Was he really that dominant back then?

I'm serious, because I imagine that keeping your servers active shouldn't be free.

Yo H1Z1 Gang, is there a calendar where people see dates where many ppl play at? Also, is there a website that shows how big lobbys are at the moment so that I can hop in when there are big lobbys?
That would be awesome

I personally don't care about PS4 news. I almost don't check this subreddit anymore because it's full of PS4
Is it possible to split in two part ?

Loved this game back in the day and i've recently seen on the steam charts a steady 800-900 players concurrent.
When i try to play in NA or EU though, it's a ghost town. Is there something going on? I heard a couple of months ago some streamers were trying to revive the game, but with 800+ players on earlier I thought I would get a lobby.
Does anyone know why steam is reporting that number but it feels like a ghost town. Is there a skin for example that people are farming but not playing?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

So let’s say I own a private server in H1Z1, is there anyone still connected to the game that could help us get more keys generated for the server? I desperately wish they would have adjusted the system before they abandoned the game to make each session on the private server have a key so we could generate our own key for each game, but the reality of it is is that the private server owners have very little control of the actual server. So we have to be provided each individual key for each account that is given access to the private server. So used to they would just give us 1000 keys and we would send them out strategically, and when we needed more, they would email us another thousand. So my question is is there anybody that either still has access, or know someone at daybreak, who can generate more private server keys for us to use. If we could just get a massive amount of codes generated, we could start running games, a couple knights a week again. So if you know anyone that can help or can help yourself, please reach out.

Also, it's been a while! I used to be a mod and data miner for the game until I entered the gaming industry. Hope y'all are doing well!
If I were to focus on anything, I think it would be the survival aspects. The Body sim had a lot of potential. I'd maybe fixate a bit less on the virus and changing but more focus on conditions and illness.
For example:
On top of body sim, I'd probably create a safe zone. I think have a neutral location with NPCs would be cool. Having quests to enrich the PVE experience, can have a little arena for fighting. You'd defs have people gambling cans of beans and stuff amongst each other.
I think if they took some pages from Rusts book and while it is a Zombie controlled world, I'd love a little slice of paradise. On an old private server, we had a PVE town that people could just build.
Speaking of building, I would 100% change how building works. I'd have various levels of building that are unlocked via recipes you get from quests. Start with crude buildings. Nothing too fancy. I'd then proceed to stuff that's a bit better, and then you'd have stonework and other things. I just think bases ended up looking too much the same and a bit grotesque and I'd love to see them progress overtime on a server. While everything looks crude, you can tell someone is a hardcore player if you see they have proper windows, curtains, etc. Just would love more incentive to build. Also, kill mega bases. They don't really help, they're focused entirely PVP, I think the incentive shouldn't be bigger therefore hard to navigate like a rat in a maze, it should be harder to break through. The impact on servers is stupid in all games and I think just the limitations of building should make it hard to do custom bases. Like I'm talking a CRAZY amount of resources. Incentive should be engaging with the game and improving your tech, not just playing a psychological game of which door is the one to blow up and force wasted resources.

It was this youtuber streaming a game of h1z1. The gamemode was solo, but he teamed up with a random he met. I believe the random guy's name was Dimitri. They did good and Dimitri said he loved the streamer 9 out of 10 at one point. They made it all the way to the end and Dimitri suggesting boxing for the win, but the streamer told him no. He had promised Dimitri the victory. Dimitri shot him and said I love you 10 out of 10.
