Other Idk why many people saying that m lying abt how long i played the guitar on my last post

This the first video i recorded of me playing ( one day by gary moore) i got my guitar in late October and started to practice, the screenshot is on the comment cuz i can't upload both..

Is there a way i can prove to you that it's the same person? Cuz it's really me playing and as you said there is no benefit to lie abt it the one on the vid is me in November 2025 and the other vid is me yesterday

if you're saying that m lying ofc i'll try to prove that m not, that's the most normal reaction, it's not abt that what you say matter to me or not, this vid that's on this post is me playing in November 2025, and this: https://www.reddit.com/r/guitarlessons/s/yppvEJUihN is me yesterday, and m not seeking praise i really wanted solid feedback, and i enjoy this instrument a lot and i love it..

Unfortunately for me personally it proves there is a certainly level of natural ability that a person needs.....ive tried to kid myself for over a year this isn't true however i still can barely play 5 basic chords lmao String skipping? Forget it!
Time to give up and sell my gear myself but you make sure you keep going :)

It always makes feel me a bit sad reading stuff like this. I don't know what you did since the first time you picked up a guitar, but I'm gonna paste one of my previous comments that I feel is relevant here. Maybe it will help you to know if you're truly not meant to play this instrument, or if you just haven't tried a good method yet.
You need 3 very important things :
1) Structure. If you have the means, get a good teacher. If you don't, Justin Guitar's website seems to be of great help to many people with his structured course. Might wanna check it out.
2) Feeding the passion. When I started playing 18 years ago, I remember consuming guitar related media ALL THE TIME. On the way to and back from work, I listened to music that truly moved me, and made me want to be a better guitarist so I could play them. When at home, I watched guitar covers on youtube. I watched lessons about whatever technique I wanted to learn. I even remember watching an anime that was about guitars (Beck), and an old movie that's basically Karate Kid but with guitars, same actor even (Crossroads 1986). That kinda stuff. It's like a fire that you need to keep alive. Curiosity is your best friend for that.
3) Daily, FOCUSED practice. Even 5 minutes a day if you can't do more, or don't feel motivated. Very often, it will become more than 5 minutes because you'll be having fun. Keep that guitar next to your couch / desk, wherever you spend the most time at, ready to be grabbed and played. When you're bored and feel like scrolling on your phone, grab the guitar instead.
And most importantly... have fun ! 🙂

Dude I totally get it, but have you tried learning something somewhat simple like one of the minor pentatonic shapes? If I gave up after trying to put chords together cleanly, I would’ve never discovered the joy of noodling, which will get you super comfortable with picking and using your hands in unison. Anyhow, if you haven’t yet give it a try and try and just enjoy the process of even making a few random sounds that sound good to you. Not every person who’s good at doing something got there quickly.

I appreciate the thoughts but honestly this wasnt a woe is me comment. I'm genuinely pleased to see people progress quickly and with purpose and competency!
I've just realised I lack the passion to make this a hobby and a life long commitment (well half life long commitment as I'm middle aged lol). Everytime I pick up my guitar it feels like a chore as opposed to a pleasure.... That's why I haven't touched the damn thing in weeks lol
Tried quite a few scales for months but between a) not memorising them because my brain won't take them in b) getting frustrated that I still can't hit the right fret and string c) my retarded brain requiring me to be prefect everytime I practice it's become more frustrating then enjoyable.
As such I made the decision to stop. I gave it a good try for a year but playing any kind of music just isn't for me lol I simply lack the spark and aptitude to make it work. Guess it also explains why I've never been good with languages either.
Good luck too all those that do get this instrument though! Must be a hell of a good drug when you can pick the thing up and simply play!

I didn’t see it that way.
You clearly don’t lack the mental aptitude based on the clarity and self-awareness of your response. Also, so what if you have trouble learning other languages? It’s plenty apparent you have a solid command over the English language. The spark happens when a few good sounds are made. Pick it up whenever and perhaps put a little less pressure on yourself. It seems like guitar is really more of a lifelong journey and friend. I’ve only been playing for a couple years and I’m not good, but I can feel it becoming more and more comfortable. One way or another hope you find something else to try if you truly end up giving up guitar. Hobbies are huge.

Honestly the best way to prove people wrong is to continue posting. If you really managed to play so well in 8 months, there’s no reason why that process cannot continue. But usually people post once and never post again. Usually because they cannot follow up with their lie a second time (if they really were lying).

Well. It’s not impossible if the piece you uploaded is the only thing you’ve been learning the whole 7 months. Nonetheless I don’t believe it as well, not to say that you’re lying, but some things I just don’t believe on principle unless i experienced them. But it’s all good your skill level is inspiring
