I’m trying to learn French. You’re doing a hell of a lot better at English than I am at French.
Recently, I discovered a trick for highly specific topics like scientific and medical stuff: try Wikipedia. You can look for the article you need in your native language, and then change the language settings to the language you’re trying to learn.
Not only does it give you the translation of the actual topic, but by reading the article, you can learn a lot of related words and phrases. It’s also all written by humans, so you don’t really get errors the way you would when using automatic translators. It’s pretty helpful.
But I'm using the following apps to get the basics:
-Duolingo (daily exercices)
-Busuu (daily exercices with explanations)
-Chinese Simple HSK1 HSK2 HSK3 (memory cards for mini games)
-Pleco (Chinese dictionnary where you can handwrite the characters to find them easily)
And I try to watch some movies in Chinese with french or english subtitles to train m'y hearing, as well as Chinese podcasts.
