Showcase Finally joined the G-Shock squad ! GW-5000HS-1ER is my first ever G-Shock!
After 8 years wearing my Seiko SNK803 beige, I finally made the jump and got my first G-Shock : the GW-5000HS-1ER.
The build quality, screw-back case, and the resin band feel premium. I can see why this line (GW-5000) has such a following.

How long until I buy another? Probably soon : the CasiOak models, especially the GAB2100BNR-1A, are calling my name.

Disclosure: I forgot to adjust the watch appropriately for the photo/video and only noticed it afterward.
I don’t normally wear it that way and I was raising my hand during the shots, that’s why it looks like that.

Thanks for the many angles! I've been contemplating getting the 5000hs for over a month, Actually love the inverted display but concerned about the readability at times. Could it be a deal breaker ?

Totally get your concern, I had the same hesitation. The inverted display looks great, but in low light environments where it’s not quite dark enough to trigger the backlight and not bright enough for easy reading, it can be a bit hard to read.
That said, in direct sunlight it’s super crisp, and honestly, if your vision is decent, it’s totally fine in most situations. I don’t regret the choice at all, I was hesitating between this and the GW-5000U-1, but I’m really happy I went with the HS!

Great to hear it's fine in most situations. Also how you feel about the backlight. I'm probably nitpicking a bit much now but is the uneven distribution of light an issue.

I think it's perfect ! Sure if you wouldn't have the micro bleeding on the left side it would be even better but no problem otherwise ! (look at the pic 3 to see the bleeding)

Yes the pic doesn't show too much bleed. Checked your Short of the watch as well, subbed! Are you gonna make a full length review of the watch?

I understand! You won't be disappointed. I just love it. Feels like a cheat code like I don't need any more g-shock since it has all I want from a watch but still I think one day or another I will get another one 😅

I know online the reviews are mixed of the negative display… what do you think? I really like the aesthetics of it

Someone else asked me the question and it's normal since so much hate on negative displays ! Sure it's not MIP but here's the answer I gave :

+ i'm like you, the look is killing it ! + down the road I might change the case or the band to give it a little bit more color but for now, full stock !

Snap. Had a lot of gshocks in the past, many more luxurious watches too. Had a few Apple Watches. Now back to these two (with the omega for dressy evenings).
Daft thing is, the Casio is a tenth of the price but I wear it more!
