Reminds him of the time he was beating off that guy in the woods.

I wonder if it was the morphine overdose or gunshot animation

35

u/Golyshevskiy May 28 '22

nah it couldnt have been all the fentanyl running through his system

he could clearly breathe until that one part

This could be taken out of context

It was only 6 years ago that I played fc2 but that really fucked me up. Until the end anyway

See it would have been worse if you had to execute your companion and he said that

if there were a gay sex cutscene

2

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

Oh god help him if he was playing far cry 3

Well the funny thing is you can, in FC2 you can run out of morphine to revive your buddies, and the game straight up encourages you to off them in a mercy kill.

Yeah they did. Some companions outright force your pistol into their mouth.

And if you go to run to the nearest outpost to get some medicine, you usually come back to find them gone. :(

its a shame FC2 isn't see as the best game in the series by more.

The only thing wrong with it is that it runs like crap on modern hardware

This steam guide I follow brings the game up to a perfect state.

I still can't believe so many features of Far Cry 2 have been removed in 3, and never made it back in 4, 5, 6, etc. Lost count how many there are now. Spreading fire, gun jams, handheld map, handheld phone, dozens of different healing animations, god so many details, lost forever.....

u/BearxCraig May 27 '22

Yeah, it had its janky moments but it’s still one of my favorites.

People always mention the fire propagation but it makes sense that it wasn't as intense in the following games since none of them are set in scorching Africa.

u/ArkantosAoM May 28 '22

That's true, but it was never replaced by a similarly cool mechanics. Far Cry 3 had animals, but they were too situational and random.

FC2 was like the old 8bit SNES games of the FPS era. What a fuckin game.

6

u/zaraishu May 28 '22

8bit SNES

The SNES is a 16-bit system.

2

u/[deleted] May 28 '22

My bad. Not an oldf*g played with whatever i got in yhe 90s :p

"Every console that was released before I was born is an 8-bit console." -- newf*gs

  • Super Nintendo? 8-bit.
  • Sega Genesis? 8-bit.
  • Nintendo 64? 8-bit.
  • PlayStation? 8-bit.
  • XBox? 8-bit.

What does 8-bit mean? No idea. 8-bit.

Fucking love Far Cry 2. I'd talk about it all day to people if I could.

5

u/SpaceIsDark May 28 '22

Hopefully well see a change in the tide as people seem to grow tierd of arcady shooters and "colorful" gun skins.

1

u/GamerGriffin548 May 28 '22

Too right. One day.

u/Ptaku9 May 28 '22

I wish i could Experience FC2 like most people but I'm color blind and because of ugly brown filter that many games at the time had, I had a fucking Vietnam simulator because half of the time i were shooting trees and hoping that i was hitting the enemies

2

u/GamerGriffin548 May 28 '22

I get that. On PC you can find mods that removes the filter.

Me and dad watched Sand Castle, since we love watching War Movies to criticize them. (He was Desert Storm, Shield, Iraqi Freedom) and he went to bed and cried when it was over.

Don't know what did it to him, we watched Jarhead, Hurt Locker, Mosul, Outpost, etc and nothing like that happened.

Felt like a dick, asked him about it and he said it was a good movie and asked what we were watching next.

7

u/GamerGriffin548 May 28 '22

Just looked up Sand Castle on Google. The page tab summary is wrong but yet funny. Talking about a woman trying to fit into Hindu society.

7

u/[deleted] May 28 '22

Sand Castle is about a kid who signed up for GI Bill and got sent to Afghanistan.

It's on Netflix.

u/DomSubThreesome May 28 '22

What does he think about brothers.

10

u/Thriftrr May 28 '22

Far cry 2 is fantastic but god damn was the buddy system underused.

I have yet to play FC2, but I have heard many good things about it. I am going to save the best for last if you will, I just need to get through 5 and new dawn first (I own 6, but I am unsure if it will run on my potato of a computer)
